BETH.
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed thereto according to thy word.
With my whole heart have I sought thee:
O let me not wander from thy commandments.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
That I might not sin against thee.
Blessed art thou, O Lord:
Teach me thy statutes.
With my lips have I declared
All the judgments of thy mouth.
I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies,
As much as in all riches.
I will meditate in thy precepts,
And have respect unto thy ways.
I will delight myself in thy statutes:
I will not forget thy word.
NUN.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
And a light unto my path.

Intro:
My prayer for each one of you here today is two fold. First, I want everyone one of you to get on fire for God. Second, If any of you are not born again I want to see you saved.
We are so blessed to have Gods word. We can read it, listen to it, sing it, and ever share it. We can learn from its pages and grow closer to God by it. It reveals to us the mysteries of life. It is somewhere we can go to when we are hurting to find comfort and a place we can enjoy and be encouraged when we are happy.
God’s word is quick (that leans alive) and powerful and sharper that any two edged sword (that means it can speak to us on a heart level)
I love the Bible and I love spending time with it. Last year I read the bible through and this year I have purposed to spend time in my bible every day! and by his grace I have done it!
Why do i do it tho? So I can brag and tell others “Hey I read they bible from cover to cover and I haven’t missed a day this year in my bible ready.” NOOOOO! I do it so I can grow closer to Christ and know him better! And I want others to know my Jesus also!
You see the more I am in and studying my Bible the more it cleanses me and draws me closer to God. It gives me joy unspeakable even in the hardest of life's situations and let me tell you I’ve been in some tough situations in my life. but my life just gets sweeter the more I know Christ and that’s what I want for each one of you. But how does one achieve a closer walk with God? I’m glade you asked cause that’s what I want to share with you this morning!
There are four keys that you must utilize when reading Scripture and will help you grow closer to God. We are going to look at each one for just a few moments this morning. Y’all ready? you got your pen and paper?
Ok here we go
1. Memorize it
1. Memorize it
2. Visualize It
2. Visualize It
3. Personalize it
3. Personalize it
4. Harmonize it
4. Harmonize it
Conclusion:
My prayer is that every young person in the Christian school would have a heart and a desire to know God better and have a hunger for the word of God and righteousness.
The only way we will see true revival and you will see true revival is if you get on fire for God.
I remember when I was a teenager. (and no it want that long ago.) the Youth group and I at my church loved to go out soul-winning (Testifying what ever you want to call it.) and we we on fire to reach the lost. Well we were so excited about what we were doing that one of the elder people in the church came to pastor and said “Preacher it isn't fair that the young people get a special day to go soul-winning we old folks want to get on fire for the Lord to.” So they started another soul-winning group in the church for the older folks who wanted to go out.
The Bible says “Let no man despise thy youth, but be an example unto the believers.” I guarantee you that just like a wild fire if you will get on fire for God that fire will spread like crazy! you say “well how exactly do I get on fire for the Lord?” by Memorizing Scripture, Visualizing Scripture, Personalizing Scripture, and Harmonizing Scripture.
The Scripture will cleanse you as a christian and grow you closer to God.
If you are here today and you are not born again the Scripture will do something else for you the bible says this
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
You see The scriptures give us what we call the moral law or the ten commandments. and if you have ever lied you are a lier, If you have ever stolen anything regardless of the value you are a thief, if you have been angry with someone according to the words of Jesus you are a murderer, If you have looked at the opposite gender with lust then the same words of Jesus you are an adulterer. you are guilty of breaking Gods holy moral law and you must stand before God on judgment day. God says you are guilty before God and his punishment for breaking his law is eternal punishment in Hell.
But there is good news. Jesus did something for you so you don't have to face the wrath of God on Judgment day.
God says you are guilty before God.
Who knows what he did for sinners? (Died on the cross.)
yes and who knows the legal implications of that?
Imagine you are standing before a judge and he said you have $250,000 in tickets and if you cannot pay you are going to jail. I cannot pay that and I know y’all can’t. When someone comes in and says Judge I want to pay everything for this person. He pays the fine and now the judge can legally let you go.
This is what Christ has done for each of us. If we Repent (that is to turn from our sins to God) and trust in God alone to save you then he will. You see right now you like a person jumping out of a plane 20,000 feet in the air without a parachute. I say don’t be a dummy transfer your trust from yourself trying to save you from the fall to come to the parachute to save you!
You need to repent and transfer your trust from yourself to save you from the damnation of Hell to Christ alone and trust him like you would trust that parachute.
Before you leave this place you could breath an earnest pray something like this: “God, be merciful to me a sinner. Lord, I need to be saved. Save me. I call upon your name…Lord, I am guilty, I deserve your wrath. Lord, I cannot save myself. Lord, I want to have a new heart and a right spirit, but what can I do? Lord, I can do nothing, come and work in me. I now call upon your name. Trembling, yet believing, I cast myself wholly upon you, O Lord. I trust the blood and righteousness of Thy dear Son…Lord, save me today.”
Sinner, If you will trust in Christ alone today for your salvation the bible says he WILL save you!
Christian young person, Lets get on fire for God by cleansing ourselves in the word of God daily.
