Start Being Sanctified

Let’s Get It On

it was the summer of 1973 when R&B recording artist Marvin Gaye released what some would say was the most provocative song to ever be played on the radio. I truly believe that it was this song and these lyrics that gave rise to the many other recordings that came after it. It was in fact the first of its kind and we all were popping our fingers and grooving to “Let’s get it on”. As I look back now in retrospect I wonder how much irreparable damage was done to the moral conscious of many young people when they voiced the last few words of the song that said “Stop being Sanctified”.

My Brothers and Sisters, I am sorely afraid that this is what the vast majority of so called Christians have done; They have stopped being sanctified! I want to suggest to you who are here today that to take that course of action nullifies everything that you say you believe and leaves you on the wide road that is leading to destruction. The Bible says that those who are really saved have been born again, provided the righteousness of Christ, and set apart to be holy. That is, they have been regenerated, justified, and sanctified. I rose to tell somebody today that you need to start being sanctified.
