The Will (Part 4) Ezekiel 28 & Matthew 25:41: Truth of the will and sovereignty is found in Scripture alone.
• God is personal
• God has revealed
• God is sovereign
God’s will
• It is for absolute good
• God would never will for me that which is not the absolute best (this is difficult in practice)
Three will’s
• The existence of ONE WILL—starting point
• The introduction of a second will—Satan
• The introduction of the human will—man’s
The focus of each will
• God’s—focus on Jesus Christ as supreme King of the universe
• Satan’s—focus on himself
• Man—focus on enthroning himself
The initial challenge
1. God created a being that was superior to all other beings and gave him authority over creation
2. Time came when this being said—“I don’t like God’s will. I want my will.”
3. Multitudes of angels joined him
4. God dealt with this immediately, Matthew 25:41
5. The scene then moves to Eden—the conflict between God and Satan is behind every moment in history
Ezekiel 28
• Address to the prince of Tyre, vv.1-11
• Address to the king of Tyre, vv. 12-19
• God addresses Satan via someone else (this is quite common)
