10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”
Last week Paul confronted the church & Judaizers of mainly trying to be closer to God by doing or not doing works of the law,
This is important because when our relationship with God based on our actions or no action we either are trying to earn God’s love, focusing on other peoples sin, and thinking/acting like we are better followers of God than someone else.
So Paul uses scripture (Abraham) to prove that we are all saved and continue to grow though faith in what Jesus has already done.
Today in Verses 10-14: Paul makes 3 statements here that support verse 14 which is also the theme of Galatians
14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
I have 2 Questions : since this speaking about 2 things Gentiles receive what is the blessing of Abraham that has come to us?
it is referring to:
3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
but what is the blessing the blessing of Abraham to Gentiles?
Hint:
25 You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’
“seed” - is in singular … which means there is one from Abraham that will bless....
Jesus
So looking at verse 14 again it teaches us that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Jesus has come to us. …and so because of Jesus receive the promised Spirit
What does Paul mean to receive the promised Holy Spirit?
Is
; ; ; ;
15 Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, And the fruitful field is counted as a forest.
3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring;
28 “And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
the sealing of the Holy Spirit makes us His:
9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)
Romans
Teaching us that verse 14 means that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Jesus has come to us so that we can be sealed with the Holy Spirit that makes us belong to God
i love this verse in the NLT
14 Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.
This verse is literally the opposite of what the Judaizers were teaching the church:
The Judaizers Gal 3:14 would have sounded like this:
“through becoming a Jew (circumcision, law) God will bless the gentiles with the same blessing he promised Abraham, so that those who are Jewish believers might receive the Holy Spirit through faith and being a Jew.”
Now I have a question for you: what does Paul mean to receive the promised Holy Spirit?
Now Paul is going to prove they are wrong show us how we belong to God because of Jesus in 3 statements
that

English Standard Version Chapter 3
10 For all who rely on works of the law are munder a curse; for it is written, n“Cursed be everyone who does not oabide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11 Now it is evident that pno one is justified before God by the law
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”
10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”
11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Here we read of two words that need to be understood:
1. Curse - Paul is quoting
26 ‘Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law.’ “And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’ ”
that Hebrew word cursed in is a unique word in that every time it is used it is used as a reflex when violating their relationship with God. The first time it is used is in towards Satan as punishment for deceiving Eve

STATEMENT 2:
11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”
12 But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.”
11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
Statement: through faith we are justified
Statement: through faith we are justified
verse 12 can be confusing in some translations.
NLT says
12 This way of faith is very different from the way of law, which says, “It is through obeying the law that a person has life.”
in other words:
“Law says do it to live, grace says trust Him to live”
Statement: through faith not by the law we are justified
Statement: through faith not by the law we are justified
Statement 3:
Statement 3:
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—
Statement: Jesus rescues us from the curse of the law
Statement: Jesus rescues us from the curse of the law
he rescued us by taking the curse.
Conclusion
Conclusion
Because the law is a curse and does not justify, and we are justified by faith, plus Jesus rescues us from the curse of the Law:
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
If you have been trying to earn his love you dont have too
Jesus took your curse
Jesus paid the price
Do you have faith in what Jesus did?
Have you received the Spirit?
