NLT

13 So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!

Build a large boat from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. 15 Make the boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.

Leave an 18-inch opening below the roof all the way around the boat. Put the door on the side, and build three decks inside the boat—lower, middle, and upper.

Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die.

But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives.

The Ark of Safety

But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives.

13 So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!

But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives.

“Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die.

Some bad stuff is coming, so I want you and your family to self-quarantine

Notice that to take the step of self-quarantine was an act of faith, not of fear or cowardice!

a flat-bottomed rectangular vessel 450 long, 75 wide, and 45 high, with a displacement of some 43,300 tons (Merrill F. Unger, Archaeology and the Old Testament. Grand Rapids: Zondervan Publishing House, 1954, pp. 59–60) and three decks.

It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before.

But look at the promise of God at what He would accomplish in Noah and his family during that time (v18)

But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives.

The Lord said that He would use Noah’s time in quarantine to “confirm” His covenant with Noah & his family
I believe this is a time for us to grow in our depth in our spirituality, in our maturity in Christ!

This is a time for the church to grow DEEP!

Rather than relying on a system of religion, God was pushing Noah into a new aspect of serving and walking with God.

But notice the specific instructions on the ark’s construction:

“Build a large boat from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. 15 Make the boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.

a flat-bottomed rectangular vessel 450 long, 75 wide, and 45 high, and three decks.

But notice these two oddities:

Leave an 18-inch opening below the roof all the way around the boat. Put the door on the side, and build three decks inside the boat—lower, middle, and upper.

Notice the door!

You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.

One Door.

I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved

(NKJV)

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

1 Door.
The door is the way in, but it had to be laid down for anyone to enter in
(NKJV)

I lay down My life for the sheep.

Why was the door in the side?

I lay down My life for the sheep.

But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

But, here is the strangest part of all:

I lay down My life for the sheep.

You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side.

One Window, way up at the top. Why?
To ride out this storm, whenever they got stir crazy, whenever it felt like God had forgotten about them, all they had to do was

LOOK UP!

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord!
