Short Sermon into Prayer Service

Well we do appreciate the mission team and their willingness to Go and Serve the Lord

Praise the Lord this church is obedience to send people

Charles Spurgeon said, “True Prayer is neither a mere mental exercise, nor a vocal performance. It’s far deeper than that. It is a spiritual transaction with the creator of heaven and earth.”

2 Chronicles 7:13–14 NASB95

13 “If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, 14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Church we are to pray

This morning will not be a normal service as we will have a short sermon and then we will put to action what Scripture calls is to do

Today the Southern Baptist Convention has called today a day of prayer and the President has called today a day of prayer to seek the Lord primarily conserving this virus

Not sure if you are aware of this virus but it has successfully shut down almost everything

Understand I am going going to debate you on the seriousness of it or even the medical side of it

I will tell you I have seen nothing like this in my lifetime

For something to shut down billion or trillion dollar companies like the MLB NBA and NHL and to interrupt schools and things like it has I have never seen anything like it

But understand this, this virus and it’s effects did not surprise the God of the universe who is seated on the throne in Heaven and is still very much in charge

So church rather than get caught up in all the hype and panic that is going on

Instead of running to the store to find toilet paper or anything to clean your house with might I offer you and encourage you to seek the Lord in prayer

Prayer seems so simple yet is so often over looked

I listened to a podcast about the power of prayer and EM Bound said this "prayer is the contact of a living soul with God."

We should be praying

It is our opportunity to communicate with the Loving God Himself

Dr Fawns said this "little prayer, little power, more prayer, more power, much prayer, much power."

Church this a call to be praying yes be praying for the virus, but pray for your one, pray for your coworkers, pray for the church, pray for church leadership, pray for the government

See church when we pray God moves

Prayer changes things

Psalm 18:6 NASB95

6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, And my cry for help before Him came into His ears.

Isaiah 30:19 NASB95

19 O people in Zion, inhabitant in Jerusalem, you will weep no longer. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you.

When you and I cry out to God in prayer He hears our prayers

And as we have seen in the previous piece of scripture prayer changes things

This is our opportunity to seek the Lord in prayer this morning

So as I said earlier this will not be your normal Sunday

See it is one thing to talk about prayer and then go eat lunch and never prayer

Nope this morning we are going to talk about prayer and then pray

So I am going to ask that you move to smaller groups and you can move the chairs and circle up and pray

Up on the screen will be some things to pray for but don’t let that limit your prayers

Then when we are done we will gather back for an invitation and send you out

Mercy to stop the virus and heal people

President Trump, Vice President Pence, Gov. Laura Kelly, and those in Government

Wisdom as we navigate this difficult time period

Protection for everyone and those serving on Missions
