Christ Offers Relief On Nervousness & Anxiety

BOOK

When there was some quarrel going on at the church in Philippi, Paul appealed to them to stand firm in the Lord
On his final exhortation he said, “Rejoice in the Lord always and let your gentleness be evident to all.”
And this is the most important part of his exhortation..
Philippians 4:6 NIV
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Do not be anxious— in every situation [does that include “Corona”?], pray with thanksgiving— present your request to God
So the first and the most important thing that we can, and must do is to PRAY
This time let’s go to the old testament— Let’s take a look at one of the psalms of David

LOOK

David asked Yahweh to examine him
He asserted his worthiness by revealing his integrity
He asked God to test his thoughts and intentions— not just his outward actions
He expressed his loyalty to Yahweh by showing distance to those who oppose Him— such as the those who are DECEITFUL, HYPOCRITES, EVILDOERS and WICKED
And then he said in…
Psalm 26:6 NIV
6 I wash my hands in innocence, and go about your altar, Lord,
In those days, it is their tradition to wash hands before going to worship— It is required to have clean hands
It is no longer our tradition today, but the principle behind it is to keep our hands clean
It is required to have clean heands
So, in this time of great uncertainty— the second thing that we must always do is to PROTECT ourselves— wash your hands and don’t touch your face!
During the time of Moses, they also went through times very similar to what we are currently going through— The Lord told Moses
Numbers 5:2 NIV
2 “Command the Israelites to send away from the camp anyone who has a defiling skin disease or a discharge of any kind, or who is ceremonially unclean because of a dead body.
The Lord told
“Send away”— in our modern language we say “quarantine”— they isolated those who have defiling skin disease
Not just skin diseases— the Scriptures also said, “or a discharge of any kind”— those who discharge contagious virus
And that brings us to the third important thing that we should do as we combat this crisis— We must PREVENT the spread of the virus— If you’re not feeling well, stay at home
If you’re not feeling well, stay at home
Finally, when Paul taught the Christians in Philippi to imitate the humility of Jesus he said to them— be like minded
Having the same love— being one in spirit and of one mind— And in...
Philippians 2:4 NIV
4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
He said, in our relationship with one another, we must have the mindset of Jesus Christ— and what is that mindset?— the mindset of caring for others and not just for ourselves
So, the last but certainly not the least that we must do in our church campaign to combat the crisis, is to PASS ON this loving reminder to people we care about

TOOK

To easily remember these 4 things that God wants you to hear through me today— just remember 4 P’s— PPPP— not the public-private-partnership, no! Though it’s working here in the US— Yesterday President Trump forged partnership with the private sector to carry out the nationwide testings at Walmart, Costco and other supply chains
But the 4 P’s that God wants us to remember and do are
PRAY
PROTECT
PREVENT
PASS ON
