Born with our condition
Born with our condition
Intro: We are born with character traits and genetic make up that defines who we are and makes us unique. Some of these abilities we can develop and grow and some are just genetic. Like some are born with height and strength that enables them to do things more athletically than others. Great example of this is watching gymnastics and see the gymnast perform aesthetically pleasing acrobatic moves that look effortless to you, however you know you will not attempt any effort to repeat them knowing you will spend some time under medical attention.

Some are born with a gifted brain and cognitive skills that enable them to remarkable things academically with ease. We see these often time some one just is able to recall things in their memory and you may comment, “I wish my memory worked liked that.”
We are born with some good and some bad. Some things we ask for and somethings we did not. But one truth I would like to express today is that God can change your life for the better. You can change.
DT: God’s love for you will bring you out of your darkness into his marvelous light.
Aim: Your situation is not too difficult for God. He can deliver you.
You do not have to stay that way.
You do not have to stay that way.
1 As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?”
John 9:1-
WE are introduced to a man born blind.
WE are introduced to a man born blind.
He did not ask to be born blind.
People will presume they know why you are in a certain condition.
They base it on tradition.
They will base it on personal experience.
Know this truth, God knows what he is doing in your life.
Know this truth, God knows what he is doing in your life.
You may be in a bad situation just so God can display power in your life. Do not allow others to tell you what or why something is happening in your life because they are only guessing. Just like the disciples were guessing why this man was born blind.
Why do you let others define you over God?
What do others know more than God?
Changed by the power of God!
Changed by the power of God!
3 “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him. 4 We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work. 5 But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes.
John 9:3-
I would like to draw your attention to the text to see that the young man has not asked to receive his sight. The man is being talked about but has not been in conversation with anyone. I do not want also point out that the blind man has not only caught the attention of the disciples, but his condition is being addressed by Jesus. This man’s condition also serves as object lesson for all to see.
See God’s power.
See God’s power.
This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.
This is the condition the man was born in.
This is Jesus came by the man at this time to do this action.
This love of God is a blessing every time.
Jesus declares himself as “The Light of the world.”
Jesus says, “I am the light of the world.”
Jesus saying “I am” equates him with God who is “I AM”.
6 Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes. 7 He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam” (Siloam means “sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!
John 9:6-
Jesus made mud with his saliva.
Jesus put the mud on the blind man’s eyes.
Jesus told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam.”
The man obeyed and came back seeing!
See How God changes you and others see the change.
See How God changes you and others see the change.
8 His neighbors and others who knew him as a blind beggar asked each other, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?” 9 Some said he was, and others said, “No, he just looks like him!” But the beggar kept saying, “Yes, I am the same one!” 10 They asked, “Who healed you? What happened?” 11 He told them, “The man they call Jesus made mud and spread it over my eyes and told me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash yourself.’ So I went and washed, and now I can see!”
John 9:8-11
Some will doubt you have changed because they only see you for who you use to be.
They may only know you as the blind beggar.
Some will refuse to believe you can overcome what you were dealing with in your life.
Do not be discouraged by all the doubters. Know that God’s love is greater than all those against you. Also know that God knows how to make you whole when you do not even ask him. You do not need to ask when God already knows what is best for you!
The doubters kicked him out for believing in Jesus.
The doubters kicked him out for believing in Jesus.
The Pharisees in the text did not believe the testimony of the young man. They presumed Jesus to be a sinner because he was not like them. The man who was blind says...
John 9:
30 “Why, that’s very strange!” the man replied. “He healed my eyes, and yet you don’t know where he comes from? 31 We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but he is ready to hear those who worship him and do his will. 32 Ever since the world began, no one has been able to open the eyes of someone born blind. 33 If this man were not from God, he couldn’t have done it.” 34 “You were born a total sinner!” they answered. “Are you trying to teach us?” And they threw him out of the synagogue.
Know people can do their worst to you and God will do his best!
God changes you to love you and keep you!
God changes you to love you and keep you!
John 9:35-
35 When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the man and asked, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 The man answered, “Who is he, sir? I want to believe in him.” 37 “You have seen him,” Jesus said, “and he is speaking to you!” 38 “Yes, Lord, I believe!” the man said. And he worshiped Jesus. 39 Then Jesus told him, “I entered this world to render judgment—to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind.”
The man who was blind is now healed with sight is the lesson for all to see ().
39 Then Jesus told him, “I entered this world to render judgment—to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind.”
The man who was blind now sees with his eyes and sees spiritually the Son of God, Jesus.
The Pharisees have physical sight, but are spiritually blind and do not see Jesus as the Son of God.
Do not stay blind. You do not have to stay in the darkness. Come to the Light! See your guilt acknowledge your sin and turn to God and be washed and made whole by the blood of the lamb. Make the change today to change your life. Your situation is not too hard for God. He is able to help you turn it around. He will give you what you need and lead you on the right path to your healing. Jesus love for you is that great!
