It’s good to with you all wherever you find yourselves this morning.
Thanks for joining us on Facebook, Youtube or wherever you are streaming.
Welcome to the new One Hope!
Thankful for God’s provision in these times.
Big thanks to Mike and others who helped pull this off.
So let me say a couple things:
We are viewing this as an opportunity to make up some ground towards being more digital which is what we have been hoping to do anyway.
But we are in no way moving away from meetings in person.
So we are making some moves towards being more digital for at least next week and potentially beyond as this thing plays out.
So we are making some moves towards being more digital for at least next week and potentially beyond as this thing plays out.
Because of technology and God’s grace we are able to continue our Exodus Series today.
In a way it is similar to one of the Themes we’ll see in our text today.
You ever had that?
Something happens in your life that you don’t fully understand the meaning or full implications until much later?
Things were happening previously that we didn’t understand at the time
but paved the way for us to be able to do this.
You ever had that?
Something happens in your life that you don’t fully understand the meaning or full implications until much later?
We are going to see this today as we look at...
One of the most IMPORTANT MEALS IN ALL OF HUMAN HISTORY
The Passover Meal.
What we will see is that not only was the Passover massively important for the Israelites in their day
But the full meaning of the Passover wouldn’t be understood until 1000s of years later in the life and death of Jesus.
The Passover Meal is just one powerful event that shows that God is writing the Greatest Story Ever told.
Women — Seder Meal on April 4th
Let me Pray and we’ll jump in.

Thank you Jesus for the Church.

Pray for the Church to serve and rather than growing weaker in this time, would you grow us stronger.
Recap - Plague 9
Recap - Plague 9
1. Pick up from last week — convo - Plague 9
1. Pick up from last week — convo - Plague 9
Let’s pick it up where we left off last week — The 9th Plague — DARKNESS.
21 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness to be felt.” 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was pitch darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. 23 They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but all the people of Israel had light where they lived. 24 Then Pharaoh called Moses and said, “Go, serve the Lord; your little ones also may go with you; only let your flocks and your herds remain behind.”
Exodus 10:32-24
Pharaoh says “you may go, but not your little ones or your flocks”
He knows very well that this is not what God had said through Moses.
He’s still grasping for some kind of control and it’s not the first time he’s done this.
Plague 4 - “the flies” he says
““Go, sacrifice to your God (only stay) within the land.”
Plague 8 - ‘The Locusts’
“You can go, but only the men”
Here’s he’s trying it again.
Moses says what he said the other times.
No. We must all go and our livestock to so that we may sacrifice to the Lord.
Then we read this.
27 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go. 28 Then Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me; take care never to see my face again, for on the day you see my face you shall die.” 29 Moses said, “As you say! I will not see your face again.”
Now, if you are struggling with the Lord hardening Pharaoh’s heart
Go back and listen to last week where we unpacked this at length.
So Moses are it an all out confrontation here.
Then we read this in which is recounted a previous conversation God had with Moses.
SUMMARIZE EXOD 11:1-3
“The Lord [had] said, “Yet one more plague I will bring upon Pharoah and Egypt and Afterward he will let you go.
1 The Lord said to Moses, “Yet one plague more I will bring upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt. Afterward he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will drive you away completely. 2 Speak now in the hearing of the people, that they ask, every man of his neighbor and every woman of her neighbor, for silver and gold jewelry.” 3 And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.
Should say “the LORD had said” as the NIV translates it.
Then in we are transported back into the confrontation between Moses and Pharaoh.
4 So Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out in the midst of Egypt, 5 and every firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the cattle. 6 There shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there has never been, nor ever will be again. 7 But not a dog shall growl against any of the people of Israel, either man or beast, that you may know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.’ 8 And all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, you and all the people who follow you.’ And after that I will go out.” And he went out from Pharaoh in hot anger.
Exod 11:4-
This the original threat that God gave to Pharaoh in
Moses threatens the final plague.
don’t know what time it is, but Pharaoh has until Midnight to change his mind.
This the original threat that God gave to Pharaoh in
23 and I say to you, “Let my son go that he may serve me.” If you refuse to let him go, behold, I will kill your firstborn son.’ ”
31 And the people believed; and when they heard that the Lord had visited the people of Israel and that he had seen their affliction, they bowed their heads and worshiped.
6 There shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there has never been, nor ever will be again. 7 But not a dog shall growl against any of the people of Israel, either man or beast, that you may know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.’
It’s going to be tragic, Painful
Pharaoh’s lat chance. He has until Midnight.
The Lord will make a distinction.
Exod 11:6
The Distinction
The Distinction
8 And all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, you and all the people who follow you.’ And after that I will go out.” And he went out from Pharaoh in hot anger. 9 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.”
Exod 11:8-
The Distinction
The Distinction
Moses goes out in anger. He’s heated.
You ever seen someone continue in their sin to the detriment of other people?
Here’s it is going to cost Egypt the firstborn of everyone.
Moses is rightfully angry and Pharaoh’s arrogance and pride.
But the Lord again reminds him of HIS PURPOSES which in the end are all that matter.
Exod 11:
9 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.” 10 Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, and the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the people of Israel go out of his land.
As we talked about last week in the end everything is about demonstrating the Power of the Lord
That he might get glory
And that the nations may know that “he is the Lord”
The Distinction
The Distinction
“That you may know the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel”
“That you may know the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel”
Now he’s already done this in a few of the plagues
But here it really intensifies.
What I find fascinating is not THAT he makes a distinction, but HOW he makes the distinction.
It won’t be because Israelites are more righteous than Egyptians
or better looking or more intelligent
or even more desirable.
It wouldn’t be because of gender, race or socioeconomic class
There will be one thing that makes the distinction:
The blood of the lamb.
So, let’s look at how the Lord will do this.

1 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2 “This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you. 3 Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household.

Couple things of Significance.
“This Month” shall be the first month of the year.
Hebrew Calendar is constructed around a lunar cycle
Exod 12:1-
This month is Abid (Nissan- post exile) - Usually March/April on our Calendars
What this month means:
What this month means:
This is significant for Israel because this is a New Beginning
This is like January for us. We celebrate the New Year
There’s a sense of newness and possibility.
This is what The Passover would be for them.
A New Beginning, a new identity
As the Nation of Israel.
A Lamb.
A Lamb.
Each house is to take a lamb.
It says “tell all the congregation” that “every” man was to do this.
If there would be too much meat for a family they were to invite their neighbors.
So it would be a Shared Meal
4 And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his nearest neighbor shall take according to the number of persons; according to what each can eat you shall make your count for the lamb.

What kind of lamb?
What kind of lamb?
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats,
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats, 6 and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight. 7 “Then they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it.

Exod12:
Exod 12:
1 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2 “This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you.
one year old = young
male
Without blemish = spotless = perfect.
Then what?
Then what?
6 and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight.
6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
Heb 12:
6 and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight.
Kill it at twilight — dawn.
Enough light to sacrifice it and prep the meal
It wouldn’t been eaten until night.
Then we start getting into some strange things.
Exod 12:7-
7 “Then they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. 8 They shall eat the flesh that night, roasted on the fire; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted, its head with its legs and its inner parts.
10 And you shall let none of it remain until the morning; anything that remains until the morning you shall burn. 11 In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover.
Exod 12:10-
We’ll come back to the blood.
Meal Prep - In Haste
Meal Prep - In Haste
roasted on the fire
with unleavened bread
bitter herbs
All of this is so that the preparation would be quick.
roasting faster than boiling
no leaven therefore no waiting for bread to rise
bitter herbs - easy to find and eat raw, therefore no prep required.
was the first “ready in 10 minutes” meal
All of this was so that the could make it and eat it in Haste ()
Like packing the car to be ready to go and get your snacks ready
Was a matter of faith.
Was a matter of faith.
Would they make the proper preparation and be ready to leave immediately when the time came?
This was a big deal.
They had been in Egyptian for 430 years at this point.
They were leaving everything they had ever known, even if it was bad.
Would they trust the LORD?
We are going to ‘pass over’ verse 14-20 we may revisit them in a couple weeks.
A new beginning (new creation)-
A new beginning (new creation)-
To be done in haste -
To be done in haste -
An act of Faith in God’s deliverance -
An act of Faith in God’s deliverance -
Let’s jump down to verse 21 were Moses addresses the Elders
Would they follow these preparation guidelines?
As a commemoration - Exod
And we’ll begin to see the true significance of the Passover.
Would they be ready?
Why? - The Passover
Why? - The Passover
12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord.
13 The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.
Moses to the Elders -
Moses to the Elders -
21 Then Moses called all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go and select lambs for yourselves according to your clans, and kill the Passover lamb. 22 Take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. None of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning. 23 For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians, and when he sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses to strike you. 24 You shall observe this rite as a statute for you and for your sons forever.

28 Then the people of Israel went and did so; as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.

Exod 12:21-
The Final plague is going to happen at Midnight.
The “blood of the lamb” will be your salvation
It will be what protects you
What makes the distinction.
Were there any Israelites who didn’t obey?
Maybe.
This was an act of faith
As silly or strange as it may seen
This is what they had to trust in order to be “passed over”
There role was not to try to figure out why or what it all meant
Their role was to act in faith AND obey.
God was about to do something amazing.
Pause
Remembrance
Remembrance
God would require them to hold this Feast of Unleavened Bread every year to commemorate What he’s about to do.
24 You shall observe this rite as a statute for you and for your sons forever. 25 And when you come to the land that the Lord will give you, as he has promised, you shall keep this service. 26 And when your children say to you, ‘What do you mean by this service?’ 27 you shall say, ‘It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s Passover, for he passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt, when he struck the Egyptians but spared our houses.’ ” And the people bowed their heads and worshiped.

Exodus 12:24-
The Lord is clear that wants his people to remember this NIGHT for generations to come.
It is to be observed generation after generation to remember the Lord’s Mighty Acts
When The Lord got glory over Pharaoh
This will be the defining event for the people of Israel
And it is celebrated among the Jewish people to this very day.
NOT just a sign pointing back to something, but forward to something.
Not a ONE WAY SIGN
But points both directions: Back and Forward.
Now you have to ask?
Why a lamb?
Why blood on the doorpost?
Why does the Lord choose to make his distinction this way?
It would not be until Jesus came some 2000 years later that the full meaning of these symbols would be understood.
Rosetta Stone was discovered in 1799
God is writing the Greatest Story ever Told.
It had both Ancient Egyptian and Greek text on it
It is a story about God and his People
Allowed for the Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics to be understood for the first time
It unlocked they mysteries of Egypt.
It is the Story of Jesus.
In the same way, Jesus would unlock the true meaning of the Passover Meal.
He would be our Rosetta Stone into the true meaning of Passover.
When we are able to see this...

What is happening here?
Let’s look at 7 connections from the Passover Meal to the death Jesus Christ.
Let’s look at 7 connections from the Passover Meal to the death Jesus Christ.
7 Connections to Jesus.
7 Connections to Jesus.
1. Perhaps the most obvious: Jesus was the Lamb of God.
1. Perhaps the most obvious: Jesus was the Lamb of God.

Points forward to something as well.
What could it have been pointing towards?

7 Connections to Jesus as the Passover Lamb
7 Connections to Jesus as the Passover Lamb
1. Jesus is the Lamb of God - The Passover Lamb ()
1. Jesus is the Lamb of God - The Passover Lamb ()
He is referred to as the Lamb 34 times in the NT, 29 of them in the Book of Revelation.
Imperative that they remember ()
29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
7 Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
“For Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed”
12 saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
Furthermore at the Last Supper, which is believed to be a Passover Meal
There is no mention of a lamb anywhere in the gospels.
only Bread and Wine — Why?
Jesus was the Lamb, the Passover lamb.
Not only that
Exodus says it was “lamb without blemish” that is perfect
We know that Jesus was this lamb without blemish
For he was sinless. He was perfect
22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.
A worthy sacrifice.
So this Passover Lamb that is being described in is a picture of the Lamb of God who could come thousands of years later to make the ‘true distinction’ between God’s people and those who are not.
How would he do this?
They same way as in Exodus — by the Blood of the Lamb.
2. The Power is in Blood of the Lamb

This is exactly what the blood of Jesus does for those who believe in Him.
When we put our Faith in Jesus dying for our sins as a Sacrificial Lamb we are covered by His blood.

From the vantage point of the full overview of the plan of redemption designed by God before he even created human beings, Jesus of Nazareth was to be young at the time of his death, male of course, and perfect—free from defect before God. His sinlessness qualified him and him alone to be the lamb of God, a human lamb rather than an animal of the flock, and yet a lamb in the sense of one meeting the criteria for the Passover meal.(NAC)
Killed by the People of God ()
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

This is the very center of the Gospel.
Substitutionary Atonement
Christ died for me in my place.
Just as a lamb in every household had to die so that the firstborn in that family would be spared.

There is power in the Blood of Christ, our Passover Lamb.
His blood was shed in our place for our sins.

Now the blood was to be painted on the door.
22 Take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. None of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning.
What’s significant about a door?
It’s the entryway into something.
Jesus calls himself a door.
7 So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
To where does he lead?
To the Father.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

21 Then Moses called all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go and select lambs for yourselves according to your clans, and kill the Passover lamb.
And notice what happened in Jesus, he too was killed by the peopel of God
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— 23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.

to be eaten by all (,, )
“Men of Israel, hear these words.. 23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
But the greater value is in preparation for the Messiah. The Messiah was to be one body, broken for all, symbolically eaten by all, in order to help believers in the New Covenant keep aware of their unity as members of the one body. Partial consumption and fragments left over do not appropriately symbolize that body and that unity. The ultimate purpose of the Old Testament Passover instruction is to point forward to Christ, to the purpose of his death, memorialized in the ritual of the Lord’s Supper that now replaces the Passover, and also to the unity of those accepted by him as his people, his body. 5. Hyssop Branch - Cleanses ()
5. Hyssop Branch - Cleanses ()
The blood was to be smeared on by a hyssop branch.
I don’t see it as coincidental that The Gospel of John reports that it was a Hyssop branch by which Jesus was given sour wine on the Cross.
29 A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth.
It was a hyssop branch that would be used in the temple to sprinkle blood on the altar to cleanse.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
“They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb”
19 For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,

The Last two will become evident as we look at the Lord’s Supper.
Which was believed to be a Passover Meal
The Last True Passover Meal
7 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat it.”
So he gives them instructions and then at dinner...
15 And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16 For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
17 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves.
18 For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.
5-
14 And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. 18 For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.
Luke 22:7
Luke 22:14-
Notice there is no mention of a Lamb here.
Why? — Because Jesus was the Lamb of God.
Something significant is happening here.
There are only Two Items mentioned here:
The Bread and the Wine.
The Bread
The Bread
Jesus says “This is my body, given for you”
My Body Broken for you
They were to partake in the eating of His Body.
Just as the Lamb was to be eaten by the Israelites
So to the bread, which represents the body of the Lamb of God was to be eaten
In fact, just like in the Passover it was to be a shared meal.
The Wine
The Wine
Two cups mentioned:
“And he took a cup and he gave thank”
“likewise the cup after they had eaten”
Significant.
In the Jewish Passover meal there came to be 4 cups of wine that were taken.
SEDER MEAL - Women - April 4th
The Four Cups
The Four Cups
The four cups of Passover are an integral part of the Passover celebration. They stand for each of the four promises the Lord makes to His people in .
The Cup of Sanctification
“I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”
The Cup of Deliverance
“I will rescue you from their bondage.”
The Cup of Redemption
“I will redeem you with an outstretched arm.”
The Cup of Praise
“I will take you as My people.”
SEDER MEAL
in it says the cup they took after the meal
Traditionally this is the third cup.
The Cup of Redemption.
20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.
“This is the cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood”
The New Covenant
The Mosaic Law would come to be known as the Old Covenant.
Why?
Jesus is doing something extremely significant here.
Jesus is not just performing the passover meal, he’s transforming it.
The Passover in the New Covenant would become what we now call communion or the Lord’s Supper.
The Four Cups
The Four Cups
Listen to what Jesus says about this in
By a redemption through the blood.
Jesus tells us the symbolism of Communion.
His body is represented by the bread
His blood, the blood of the covenant, is represented by the wine.
16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?
53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.
John 6:53
John 6:
56 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.
Or Paul in 1 Corinthians.
16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?
Jesus is not just performing the passover meal, he’s transforming it.
Just as God was about to perform a mighty act of redemption in the Exodus and commemorated it with a meal
So to in Jesus was about to perform a mighty act of redemption at the Cross and it too would be commemorated with a meal.
“do this in remembrance of me”
This is why Christians have participated in Communion for the last 2000 years.
By a redemption through the blood.
Jesus tells us the symbolism of Communion.
His body is represented by the bread
His blood, the blood of the covenant, is represented by the wine.
Just as the Lamb had to be completed consumed as a shared meal.
So to Jesus must be consumed as the bread representing his body.
Jesus is the lamb at the passover meal ()
Jesus is the lamb at the passover meal ()
It’s why we Partake in Communion weekly
Because just as the Israelites had to be reminded of What God had done on their behalf.
Transformation to Bread and Wine - Communion
We too need to be reminded of what God has done for us in Jesus.
Communion
Communion
, , , , ,
It’s a reflection what God has done for us in Christ
A time for confession and repentance.
It’s also a time of celebration as we celebrate our redemption and new identity given in Christ.
And we remember in the elements.
back at God’s Powerful Deliverance to the Fame of his Name.
Ironic that we as a church cannot corporately partake of communion today
The four cups of Passover are an integral part of the Passover celebration. They stand for each of the four promises the Lord makes to His people in .
The Cup of Sanctification
“I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”
The Cup of Deliverance
“I will rescue you from their bondage.”
Points forward to something as well.
The Cup of Redemption
But we can remember.
“I will redeem you with an outstretched arm.”
The Cup of Praise
“I will take you as My people.”
SEDER MEAL
Their Response.
Messiah sanctifies us – “And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth” ().
Messiah delivers us – “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” ().
Messiah redeems us – “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons” ().
Messiah is our joy – “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” ().
Worship and Obedience
Worship and Obedience
27 you shall say, ‘It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s Passover, for he passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt, when he struck the Egyptians but spared our houses.’ ” And the people bowed their heads and worshiped.
28 Then the people of Israel went and did so; as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
They Worshipped and Obeyed
28 Then the people of Israel went and did so; as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
“And the people bowed their heads and worshiped. 28 Then the people of Israel went and did so; as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.”
And because they obeyed, they were covered by the blood of the lamb.
It is the same thing we are called to do today.
Will you worship and obey?
have you been covered by the blood of the lamb?
wherever you are you can take this step today, by faith.
ironic we can’t takt it this week.
confess and receive that Jesus died in your place as your PASSOVER LAMB.
And be covered by the Blood of the Lamb
If you have been covered by the blood of the lamb.
