Sermon 7 - Triumph of the King's people Sermon 7 - Triumph of the King's people Tony Cansler / General For Such a Time as this / Triumph / Esther 7 • The Revealing of Haman’s Plot • The Response of Haman to his Plot being Revealed • The Reversal of Haman’s Plot I will Trust God in my Trouble I am here for such a time as this The Lord has given His children Victory The Revealing of Haman’s Plot The Party for Haman Esther 7:1 KJV 1900 1 So the king and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen. The Perplexed Humans Three different people with three different mindsets but all three were troubled to some degree. • Esther was perplexed over her people Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 1 • Haman was perplexed over himself • Ahasuerus was perplexed over his country (Killing the Jews in a matter of hours) There will be times you are perplexed, take those concerns before the King, King Jesus Don’t let your care or concern over your troubles cloud or conceal your triumph 1 Peter 5:7 KJV 1900 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. The Petition around Haman’s Plot Esther 7:2–3 KJV 1900 2 And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom. 3 Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request: This is the third time he has said unto her what is her request and the previous two times she just asked for a party but things are about to get real. He once again says he will give her up to half of the kingdom. He promises her request will be fulfilled Let us remember that the Lord has promised Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 2 us an answer to our requests Matthew 7:7 KJV 1900 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matthew 21:22 KJV 1900 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matthew 18:19 KJV 1900 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. We should remember when we pray before the Lord our King has no limits on His request, We have a God without boundaries or borders. She knows now is the acceptable time to share her request. She has her opening and she is going to go for it. Let’s not forget she risked her life to save others. We should be willing to risk our life to save others. We see Humility in her request “If I have found favour in thy sight” We should demonstrate humility before the Lord When we pray let us remain humble Matthew 6:7 KJV 1900 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 3 Luke 18:10–14 KJV 1900 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. We See Honor in her Request “ and if it please the king” We should demonstrate honor before the Lord Matthew 6:9–10 KJV 1900 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. We See Honesty in Her Request “let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request” Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 4 We should demonstrate honesty before the Lord, he already knows. Just come clean with him. If you are holding a burden that is too heavy for you, ask him for help. If you are holding on to sin come clean with him and be cleansed. There is times when the Lord opens doors for you, friend when the Lord opens a door for you take action, don’t delay. Now is the acceptable time. She was here for this time. For such a time as this. She was asking for her life to be spared and the lives of her people to be spared. Esther put it all on the table, held nothing back, she risked her life by making this request. To be able to do this she had to be fully surrendered and submitted unto the Lord Let me encourage you to examine yourself and ask am I fully surrendered and submitted unto the Lord Romans 12:1 KJV 1900 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Esther was also willing to lay down her life for her friends I bet the wicked Haman was over there drinking it up, trying not to worry about what had happened with Mordecai earlier. Some people try to drink their Sorrows away, friend you cannot drink your sorrows away, but Jesus says to come unto him. Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 5 Matthew 11:28–30 KJV 1900 28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Back to the Wicked Haman setting there drinking then all of the sudden he hears what the Queen says “let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request”. I bet you could make a meme out of that facial expression. Aren’t you glad we don’t have to be cautious when we share our requests before the Lord. When we got something we want to talk to our King about we can just go for it, he truly has an open door policy for prayer. • If you have a request, let it be known unto God. • Have something you want from God, let it be known unto God • Got something you want God to do, let it be known unto God • Have something bothering you, let it be known unto God • Are you troubled about something, let it be known unto God • Is there something you need, let it be known unto God • Is there something that you need help with, Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 6 let it be known unto God • Is this world bothering you, let it be known unto God • Is the god of this world bothering you, let it be known unto God I am Here for such a time as This, such a time as Today I will Trust in my Trouble and I will Triumph God can use me Imagine the King’s reaction, He expected to need to do something great for her but instead he hears that the woman he loves and her people are about to die. God was working on this long before Esther began to reveal the plot, God has a plan. Psalm 23:4 KJV 1900 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. The Lord went before Esther, The Lord was Beside Esther, and the Lord was behind Esther The Particulars of Haman’s Plot Esther 7:4 KJV 1900 4 For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not countervail the king’s damage. They were Sold out “For we are sold, I and my people” Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 7 They were going to Suffer “to be destroyed” They were going to be Slain “to be slain, and to perish” The wicked Haman’s sins had just been revealed Sometimes we have sin in our life and the Lord will take steps to expose it or at times it just gets exposed. Luke 12:2 KJV 1900 2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Numbers 32:23 KJV 1900 23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out. 1 John 3:20 KJV 1900 20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Jeremiah 16:17 KJV 1900 17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes. Daniel 2:22 KJV 1900 22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: He knoweth what is in the darkness, And the light dwelleth with him. The peoples hope was completely rooted in Esther. Aside from Esther they have no current hope. Esther is the only way for them to live People our only hope is in Jesus. There is no Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 8 other options aside from Him. Esther came before the King on behalf of others, when was the last time you came before King Jesus on Behalf of others. Ezekiel 22:30 KJV 1900 30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. As a believer we are to stand in the gap for others, friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, sinners, saints in trouble, backsliders, those that betray us, enemies. You are somebodies Esther, what are you going to do? The Probing about Haman Esther 7:5–6 KJV 1900 5 Then the king Ahasuerus answered and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so? 6 And Esther said, The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen. The King Claimed Ignorance about Haman “and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so” The King said”his heart” how did he know it was a man, because he know exactly what she Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 9 was talking about but he didn’t know she was a Jew The Queen Called out Haman “The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman” I bet you could have heard a pin drop in that place that day, the devils plan had been spoiled. The Lord was once again going to spare his children. We need to seek the Lord to always make us aware of the devils devices, plans, tactics, and tools. Don’t be afraid to call out the devils devices. 1 Peter 5:8 KJV 1900 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: John 10:10 KJV 1900 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen. Haman was terrified, he went from being terrific to terrible and terrified in just a day. When you get called out on your sin that is what happens. You know those times when the preacher is up there and he calls out sins you are active in, yeah you know what I am talking about. When the devil’s plan is revealed it terrifies him, Expose that old liar The Passion against Haman Esther 7:7 KJV 1900 7 And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king. The King was furious, but why really was he furious. Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther (King James Version) D. The Suspenseful Exposure and Downfall of Haman: A Picture of Reaping Exactly What One Sows—Justice, Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 12 Measure for Measure, 7:1–10 • because Haman had been so deceptive • because Haman had misled him into issuing the decree of extermination • because Haman’s conspiracy meant that his own dear wife and her adoptive father, who had saved the king’s life, would also be killed • because he had personally misjudged Haman’s character and promoted him to be prime minister • because he had made Haman the closest and most trusted advisor to the king • because Haman had betrayed the trust he had put in him as prime minister • because Haman had worked his way into the king’s heart, seemingly becoming the closes friend to the king When you misjudge someones character it hurts The Pleading of Haman Esther 7:7 KJV 1900 7 And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king. The wicked Haman at this point knew his fate, his only hope was to plead with the queen for his life. The Reversal of Haman’s Plot Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 13 The Penalty for Haman Esther 7:8–9 KJV 1900 8 Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face. 9 And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon. The King’s Conclusion When the King returned from the Garden he was already furious with Haman but now he says what he thinks that Haman is trying to force himself upon the Queen in his own house. “Will he force the queen also before me in the house” Haman put himself in a compromising situation, don’t allow yourself to be in a compromising situation The King’s Conviction “As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face” Haman was Convicted because of His Sin, no one else’s His sin. The King’s Condemnation Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 14 “Then the king said, Hang him thereon.” I find it Ironic that the same Gallows he made for Mordecai He was hanged on. It was His Sin that put him to death Romans 6:23 KJV 1900 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 3:23 KJV 1900 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:10 KJV 1900 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: We sound like we are condemning the Wicked Haman today and honestly we are but if we commit sin and do not confess that sin before the Lord we are in danger. 1 John 1:9–10 KJV 1900 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. If you have sin in your life this morning you need to just come clean with the Lord, he will hear your request and he will heed your request. If you are here and you have not been born again you have sin in your life and unless you surrender and submit yourselves to the Lord Jesus Christ you will suffer an eternal death in hell. The Prosecution on Haman Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 15 Esther 7:10 KJV 1900 10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified. Galatians 6:7–8 KJV 1900 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Job 4:8 KJV 1900 8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, And sow wickedness, reap the same. Proverbs 22:8 KJV 1900 8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: And the rod of his anger shall fail. Matthew 16:27 KJV 1900 27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. 2 Corinthians 5:10 KJV 1900 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Revelation 22:12 KJV 1900 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Jeremiah 21:9 KJV 1900 9 He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 16 life shall be unto him for a prey. This is a stated principle that we see fulfilled in this text. Sometimes you see a robber get robbed, sometimes the liar gets lied to, sometimes the swindler gets swindled, sometimes the killer gets killed, that is one of those times. The Pacified King Esther 7:10 KJV 1900 10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified. The king’s anger calmed at the hanging of Haman. The Preserved People Esther 7:10 KJV 1900 10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified. We are thankful today that Esther had the Courage and Confidence to Stand before the King God’s people just experienced a great victory in this text The devil in this text has just been defeated Victory is coming to and thru the life of the believer I don’t know what you are going thru right now but be aware victory is coming, it is just ahead, it is around the corner 1 Corinthians 15:57 KJV 1900 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 17 victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 8:37 KJV 1900 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Deuteronomy 20:4 KJV 1900 4 For the Lord your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you. John 16:33 KJV 1900 33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. The devil we face daily is a defeated foe, his days are numbered. Jesus already defeated him and he beat him on a hill with some sticks and spikes Don’t live your life in defeat, God has already given us the Victory God has given his children Victory over Sin God has given his children Victory over satan You can Triumph over your Trouble just as the Jews did We do not have to live in bondage, we can be set free from bondage We may lose some battles but the war has already been won Exported from Logos Bible Software, 8:49 PM March 20, 2020. 18
