(4:1–3). ⇒ He aroused Esther to save the Jews by pleading with the king for mercy (4:4–13). ⇒ He was a man who believed in fasting and prayer before the Lord (4:15–17). ⇒ He willingly accepted the enormous responsibility of prime minister, second only to the king in authority and duty (8:1–2). ⇒ He willingly took on the responsibility of overseeing Esther’s estate, serving as manager or steward (8:1–2). ⇒ He along with Esther saved the Jews from extermination (8:7–9:19). ⇒ He instituted the Festival of Purim as a permanent festival, one that celebrated the wonderful deliverance of the Jews from their enemies (9:20–32). ⇒ He had a strong testimony of good works, of working for the benefit of people and of speaking up for their welfare (10:3). Before the King “yet again before the king,” Esther still was troubled over what had happened and still needed assurance When you need assurance in your life coming before the King of King is the best place to find assurance Matthew 11:28 KJV 1900 28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 2 Timothy 1:12 KJV 1900 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 2 Corinthians 1:3 KJV 1900 Exported from Logos Bible Software, 9:59 PM March 20, 2020. 4 3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; John 14:1 KJV 1900 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Bowed before the King “and fell down at his feet” She humbled herself and honored the king We need to humble ourselves and honor the King of Kings when we are troubled Luke 14:10–11 KJV 1900 10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. 11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Romans 12:3 KJV 1900 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to Exported from Logos Bible Software, 9:59 PM March 20, 2020. 5 every man the measure of faith. James 4:10 KJV 1900 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. Besought the King with Tears “besought him with tears” She came before the king with Tears When was the Last time you poured out your heart before the King of Kings with tears Psalm 126:5–6 KJV 1900 5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. 6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Begged the King “to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite” She didn’t care to beg for her people Don’t be afraid to come before the King of Kings to Beg for your people or your trouble Battling evil is a non-stop battle, the devil is relentless in his attacks and we need to wear the whole armor of God, wield the sword of the Lord, and work till Jesus comes to defeat the rulers of darkness. Let me beckon you to pour your heart out unto the Lord Acts 12:5 KJV 1900 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God Exported from Logos Bible Software, 9:59 PM March 20, 2020. 6 for him. Matthew 18:19 KJV 1900 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Ephesians 6:18 KJV 1900 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV 1900 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. The King’s Acknowledgement Esther 8:4 KJV 1900 4 Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. Exported from Logos Bible Software, 9:59 PM March 20, 2020. 7 The King accepted her petition Job 34:28 KJV 1900 28 So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, And he heareth the cry of the afflicted. Psalm 18:6 KJV 1900 6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried unto my God: He heard my voice out of his temple, And my cry came before him, even into his ears. Psalm 34:17 KJV 1900 17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, And delivereth them out of all their troubles. The King’s Appeal Please the King “If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king,” “I be pleasing in his eyes” 1 Thessalonians 4:1 KJV 1900 1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. Proverbs 16:7 KJV 1900 7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Plea for the King “let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in Exported from Logos Bible Software, 9:59 PM March 20, 2020. 8 all the king’s provinces: “ Plead with the King For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?” This story should be a powerful reminder of the power of prayer Matthew 7:7–8 KJV 1900 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Luke 11:9–13 KJV 1900 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? The Receiving of the Punishment “and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.” Romans 6:23 KJV 1900 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The Reason for the Punishment “because he laid his hand upon the Jews.” Romans 6:23 KJV 1900 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Policy Announcement Esther 8:8–10 KJV 1900 8 Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring: for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may no man reverse. 9 Then were the king’s scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written Exported from Logos Bible Software, 9:59 PM March 20, 2020. 10 according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language. 10 And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries: The Reason for a new Policy “Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring: for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring” The Reversal of the New Policy “may no man reverse.” The Rewriting for the New Policy “Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you” The Recording of the New Policy “Then were the king’s scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every Exported from Logos Bible Software, 9:59 PM March 20, 2020. 11 province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.” The Ratification of the New Policy “ And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed it with the king’s ring” Proclaim Announcement Esther 8:10 KJV 1900 10 And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries: Esther 8:13–14 KJV 1900 13 The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies. 14 So the posts that rode upon mules and camels went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace. Acts 2:1 KJV 1900 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. Acts 4:32 KJV 1900 32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. 1 Corinthians 12:12 KJV 1900 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
