Transcript
Then you will understand righteousness and justice
and equity, every good path;
H: then
E: if you trust in and believe in the goodness of God’s wisdom, then you will benefit from what He commands. Wisdom begins with submission not with knowledge
A: the good path of life is paved with a commitment to following God’s direction; trusting in the boundaries He has established for life
R: Lord help me to know Your commands, trust the goodness of Your wisdom, and follow the good path You have established.
My son, do not lose sight of these—
keep sound wisdom and discretion,
H: don’t lose sight
E: Solomon is encouraging his son to stay focused and determined to do the right things. It is easy to be distracted and become lazy in doing what is right.
A: it is a constant battle to stay on the right path. Daily work is needed to keep sound wisdom and discretion.
R: Lord help me to recall and live out Your commands each day. Help me to discern the path You have established and walk in it.
But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,
which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
H: path of righteousness like the light of dawn
E: this chapter is about choices the path of darkness v light. Darkness wanes, light dawns
A: each day I have a choice to make as to which path I will walk. Holding tight to wisdom and gaining insight or slipping into darkness
R: I will seek to gain insight and be a light bearer in my life today.
My son, be attentive to my wisdom;
incline your ear to my understanding,
that you may keep discretion,
and your lips may guard knowledge.
H: keep discretion and guard knowledge
E: words of wisdom to avoid the traps of sexual immorality. A call to think before you act.
A: sexual temptation and sin is nothing new. I must use understanding and discretion to guard my life in God’s ways.
R: I will keep God’s Word and Will as my guide for life.
