Provisional Leadership requires Compassion

Matthew 14:14 ESV
When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
Matthew 14:13–14 ESV
Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
Jesus saw the need and had compassion

Provisional Leadership requires Compassion

:13-14
Provisional Leadership must start from a place of compassion.
If it doesn’t start from compassion then it will inevitably lead to bitterness and anger.
You will look at those you are providing for and set expectations that if they don’t meet then you will treat them different.
Jesus will perform a miracle and get nothing from the people.

Provision Brings Satisfaction

Matthew 14:19–20 ESV
Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over.
Mt 14:

There’s not a lot of glory in provision

Children don’t think about the provision, they can only think about what is right in front of them.

Everyday providers

you can tell when you’re doing your job as a provider when nobody notices or says anything.
There isn’t always gratitude. There isn’t always joy but there is always satisfaction.
Your kids aren’t going to walk out the door and say, “hey dad thanks for going to work so we can have electricity”, or “thanks dad for working overtime this week so we can properly flush the toilet.”
“Hey mom, thanks for wiping my butt all those years”

The more you mature the more you appreciate those who have provided.

As i have grown up and matured the more I find myself thanking my parents.

Providers accurately see needs and meet needs.

Accurately see needs - They have the ability to see what an actual need is.
Need is different than want.
If all you do is meet wants, it will inevitably lead to entitlement.
Meet Needs -
If you meet needs then you have an open door to bring about change in someones life.
Jesus was in the need meeting business.
Jesus accurately saw the need and was able to meet it, NO MATTER WHO IT WAS!
JESUS COULD
Touch a leper and cleanse them.
Speak to a dead man and raise them.
Engage with an arrogant rich man and break him.
Talk with a pharisee named Nicodemus and remake him.
Jesus didn’t just do well with a small group of people, he did well with everyone.
Why? Because he saw what they needed.
He saw the brokenness of their life and spoke life to it.
Some loved him for it.
Some hated him for it.
Providers must also be confrontational.

You are called to be a Provider

Matthew 14:15–19 ESV
Now when it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” But Jesus said, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” They said to him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.” And he said, “Bring them here to me.” Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
Matthew 14:15–16 ESV
Now when it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” But Jesus said, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.”
Mt 14:1519
The apostles were probably having a panic attack.
Mt 14:15-The apostles were probably having a panic attack.
They were in the middle of a sticky situation.
Matthew 14:19 ESV
Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
The people are hungry! They have been in the middle of the field all day.
There was no bathrooms, which means no toilet paper!
Jesus provides, so you can be a provider
Mmmmmmmmmt 14:19
Jesus didn’t deliver the supernatural miracle himself, rather he gave it to the apostles.
The apostles delivered the miracle that brought satisfaction.
They didn’t make the miracle.
They didn’t manufacture the miracle.
They took the miracle, they tasted the miracle, they experienced the miracle and they passed it along.
Jesus provided the provision, the apostles provided for the people

Jesus is the Ultimate Provider

John 6:35 ESV
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
John 6:35-
Jesus knew the needs of the people pointed to a higher need.
Jesus saw the people like sheep without a shepherd. Jesus knew we needed provision that went beyond physical food.
We needed a provider who could provide something we couldn’t.
We needed a perfect, sinless, unbroken person to come into our world and save us.
Our broken lives
Jesus provided a way when there was no way.
Gospel call
What is your response to Jesus’ Provision
Will we be like a child and not understand or show appreciation for all he has provided for us.
Or will we mature and be filled with awe and wonder and his mighty works and he merciful provision.

In this time God has called you to be a provider.

When everyone else is freaking out, you are called to be a provider like Christ.
Jesus doesn’t participate in the hysteria, Jesus doesn’t turn into a worry wart.
Jesus calmly devises a plan and executed it flawlessly.
Are you providing satisfaction in your community.
When people get around you, do they find themselves freaking out or are they satisfied by what you are providing.
