Introduction

We find ourselves in
I had originally planned on preaching from a different passage on a different topic and theme, but the more I watched the reaction of people about Coronavirus or COVID-19 and read about the overall panic of both unbelievers and believers, I thought this message might be a better fit. We live in a world and time era in which there is uncertainty— tells us that we don’t know what tomorrow will bring and that what we do tomorrow is only if the Lord wills us to live. We live in a world and time era in which we do not know for certain whether or not we’ll have food tomorrow, or a house tomorrow, or a job tomorrow
So, if you have your Bible with you, turn it to , it is a little bit of a longer passage, but it all works together to provide a coherent message. Let’s read the passage and then we’ll break down the passage:
James 1:1–12 ESV
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes in the Dispersion: Greetings. 2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 9 Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, 10 and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away. 11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits. 12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
James 1:1–18 ESV

Let’s Pray.
Let’s Pray.
We’re going to work through this passage in four sections: Vs. 1-4, which provides an introduction to the whole letter as well as an introduction into his first topic, The Effect of Trials; Vs. 5-8 speaks of The Double-minded man and Finding Wisdom in God; Vs. 9-11, which seems out of place in the passage, speaks of us all being on equal footing; and Vs. 12 ends this paragraph with The Blessing of God on those who remain steadfast; and then I’ll wrap it all up with application.
Let’s start of by rereading
