The Greatest and Hope of our Gospel!
The Greatest and Hope of our Gospel!
This letter is from Paul, Silas, and Timothy. We are writing to the church in Thessalonica, to you who belong to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. May God give you grace and peace.
We always thank God for all of you and pray for you constantly.
As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We know, dear brothers and sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be His own people.
For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you.
INTRODUCTION
Good Morning Southpointe! And friends of Southpointe!!
I am so thankful that we have the technology to be able in a crisis time in our World that we are able to meet and get to be inspired by the Word together as the body of Christ.
The word Gospel means Good News.
Receiving the Good News in our lives is a very important factor, for each ones of us not just Christians but even non-believers.
Many times in life, we will hear all negative and not focus on the positive.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Look closely at this Whatsoever things are of good report!!
I am no way making light of the crisis, People are fighting for their lives and for their livelihood. And we need to be prepared, but if your mind keep feeding on all news whether you believe or don’t believe
There’s so much falsehood and rumors all being put out some to be so negative and those negative thoughts will destroy you and your brothers and sisters.
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. kjv
And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. NLT
Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God's people. NLT
Here in our text: Apostle Paul is addressing and testifying and thanking them for their faith, love and hope.
As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Look how the gospel of Christ should be living thru us.
Faithful work.
loving deeds.
enduring hope.
The gospel of Christ is not weak, it not some storybook that we read to people it is the Good News!
For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you.
When the gospel of Christ is preached not just from a pulpit but also from our lives, then the Holy Spirit is present to make it effective.
It is not just factual, it is effectual. It is not merely a document, it is dynamic.
It is not just verbal communication, it is Holy Ghost anointed communication.
The Good News must be communicated with divine power.
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Now understand I am talking about getting into faith and looking at the goodness of God and all the things that God has done for you.
And by standing strong and trusting God give hope to those around you. But fear will created more fear. Hope will destroy fear.
The Good News is a resounding gospel
For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
The words “sounded out” come from one Greek word from which we get our word echo.
The Thessalonians were echoing the gospel to all the surrounding area.
The Phillips translation: —You have become a sort of sounding board from which the Word of the Lord has rung out.
It is in times like this that people in this world need to see not just hear, because have a lot doom days preachers and people and their craziness.
But as Christians, we need to become thru with our actions or our walk in times like this to echo hope and trust in God.
It is not about our situations but it is about the One in control of the situations.
2. The Good News is a Hopeful gospel.
And they speak of how you are looking forward to the coming of God's Son from heaven—Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the One who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment.
We have living a uncharted waters, multitudes live with a feeling of hopelessness.
But this is not first time that God’s people have walked in uncharted waters.
The very reason Christianity made such powerful inroads during the first three centuries was that the people of Roman empire had lost all faith in the pagan gods.
They had become hopeless.
But the Good News brought real hope for mankind, Offered eternal life in Christ. The resurrection of Christ brought a real demonstration of the truth.
God’s son conquered death and the grave.
Man’s worst enemy “death and the grave” was conquered by the One who loves us.
And He is the one who has and will rescue us.
You are my strength; I wait for You to rescue me, for You, O God, are my fortress.
Now rescue Your beloved people. Answer and save us by Your power.
Save me and rescue me, for You do what is right. Turn Your ear to listen to me, and set me free.
Listen to my prayer; rescue me as You promised.
This Good News is a hopeful gospel.
We don’t need to just say it but we need to live it. The World needs to see Christians living out the Good News.
