The Priority of The Cross

PRIORITY OF THE CROSS “You foolish Galatians who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.” In today’s churches the Cross of Jesus Christ not only missing but deliberately neglected by the believers .Here in this above verse Apostle Paul wrote to a Letter to the Church of Galatians about how they misguiding and how they provoked to leading by a “CROSS LESS FAITH LIFE” .In this chapter Paul described the core foundational definition of a Christian believers as well as Giving His own testimony that How God enable him to sustain on Faith at Him. When He came into the 3rd Chapter ,he showing his concerns and worries that how they bewitched by some false teacher and don’t put the Cross of Jesus Christ on their eyes .This not only the problem of Galatians Church but it also the major problem of any modernization church across the Globe. Today Church are growing tremendously but unfortunately the ancient truth of Bible becoming so irrelevant to the believers But being as a believers , Cross must be the first priority of our Christian life. We shouldn’t imagine our faith live without the Cross of Jesus So apostle Paul mentioned some of the priority of the Cross which are indeed need to identify and need to implement in our daily life. 1: Cross should be our message: When Paul wrote his first letter to the Church of Corinth , he reminded them that his preaching was completely on the base of Cross .( 1 Corinthians 2:2..”for I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified “) . Many time we as a Preacher always concentrate about how good should our preaching on the base of knowledge and theology. very often and very rare preachers are concentrate on the subject of the Cross or the sacrifice of our Lord. Apostle Paul could also showed His knowledge and wisdom to the Church of Corinth, but he choose to only focus on the message of Cross and Crucified . Apostle Paul knew very well that the peoples of the church of Corinth were so intelligent and wise , but instead of shared message of knowledge he choose the message of Crucified because he convinced that only the Cross can only give them the real hope on salvation 2:Cross should be our message 1 Corinthian 1:18 says …for the message of the cross is foolishness for those who are perishing but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Apostle Paul not only emphasizing the message of cross but he also acknowledged them that “it is the power of God” for al of us whose are saved. Is it not wonderful? The world is just getting thirsty to get the power and being as power center. But our God already make available the power for us. He who believing in Lord Jesus they are saved and the power of the cross is available for them. The power of the cross can deliver , can heal, can restore , can reconciliation . we should never underestimate the divine e power on the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. 3: Cross is the reason of our boasting: In Galatians 6:14 apostle Paul says…”may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ .” here the statement of Paul is not just simply written , but he spoke with full convinced that how important is the Cross of Jesus for His life. He came from a very aristocrat family and he was a very intelligent person among the Jews. He had so much to boast for any other things, but he boasting in the Cross of Jesus. Why ? Because he knew that only for the cross he got the reeedemtion, he got the salvation and God demonstrate his love towards him as well as to the world. Many of the time we proclaim that we are the believers of Christ but are we really boasting on the cross? Or are we boasting on our positions, wealth, status etc? this is a very vital question that we need to examine. We are called to boast only one thing and that is the cross of Jesus Christ. Conclusion: We must give priority to the cross of Jesus and need to emphasize the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus in our daily life. We need to implement the priority of the cross in our messages, we need to consider cross is the power of our Christian life and Cross is the reason of our boasting rather than anything else .
