Jesus has came that we might now have relationship with the father through Him.

Key concept….Most world religions are seeking to find ways to get to God(s). However, Christianity is about God coming to us through Jesus.
When you hear the word religion or religious how do you feel? What do you think of? Is it positive or negative.
The word religion stems from the Latin word religare, a combination of re (to return, to repeat) and ligare (to tie, to bind). Our English word ligament also comes from ligare, as ligaments bind various parts of the human body. So religion can mean a fastening of the self to something important; a kind of anchoring, restraining, or reconnecting. Positively understood, religion is like the string tethering a kite to someone’s guiding hands.
“While some people use the word religion to refer to an intimate, heartfelt connection with God, Jesus used a different word for that. He called this kind of trusting relationship faith. Jesus is never recorded as using the word religion. Rather, he called people to an intimate faith connection with God as our Father and other Christ-followers as our brothers and sisters. Jesus is more about rela- tionship than religion.” - Bruxy Cavey
“All of the pillars of ancient religion are now summed up in the relational dynamic of God’s people living and loving together. This means that the most sacred geography on the planet is not a holy building or a sacred site of religious pilgrimage. The most sacred space on the planet is the space be- tween you and me when we love one another as Jesus does.” - Bruxy Cavey

Jesus has come to restore a family not restart a religion.

John 5:40 NIV
yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

- Robert Capon

31 “If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true. 32 There is another who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is true.

33 “You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. 34 Not that I accept human testimony; but I mention it that you may be saved. 35 John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you chose for a time to enjoy his light.

36 “I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing—testify that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, 38 nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. 39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

Jesus didn’t come to create an organization. He didn’t come to build buildings. He didn’t come establish primarily new rules. He came for a reunion. He came to rescues us. He came to restore us back to our Father. To help bridge the gap from foe…to family. Thats good news.
1 Corinthians 3:10–11 NIV
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Jesus didn’t offer a treaty to sign but rather a table to join. He didn’t come to create a religion he came to bring us to a reunion with God.
1 Peter 2:5 NIV
you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
It wasn’t accomplished by you joining a a club or fraternity but rather to bring us into his family.

12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

19 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. 20 Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.

Jesus didn’t offer a treaty to sign but rather a table to join. He didn’t come to create a religion he came to bring us to a reunion with God.

John

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Matthew

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

This morning as a family that is scattered like the early church was....we will all come to the table. To receive the bread and the cup. To be reminded that we are apart of the family of good. That God will always provide the bread and everything we need. That our sins our forgiven because His blood was shed on our behalf.
“There was no religion in Eden and there won’t be any in heaven; and in the meantime Jesus has died and risen to persuade us to knock it all off right now.”
