I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.
The struggle is real…often a jocular approach to a ‘first-world’ problem...
…but let’s get real. I feel certain than many (most, all) of us have had a real struggle in our life between trust and doubt, peace and pessimism, &/or faith and fear…have had—or maybe are having that struggle amid the challenges which lie before us relating to this virus…the health impact…and the economic impact…and the social/relational impact.
You may be thinking I left one out. I haven’t. This is the one which sets all the others in proper perspective...
At times like these, we have the privilege and opportunity to turn to the Creator of Heaven and Earth for what we need! The Bible is His word revealed for our blessing and His glory. In these pages we find...
I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!”
...AND, in , our Lord inspired David to write real words of encouragement. From what we can tell, he shows a window into his life. A life much like yours in mine. His struggle was a challenge from human antagonists, adversaries. Today, ours is with a viral antagonist. In the final analysis, the same God is the One who can provide us what we need in times like this. Let’s look at how this scenario unfolds in David’s life as we also discover the answers our Lord provides his child (David…and you and me).
ALSO, in , David
STARTING POINT ()
Perhaps a popular confession. A popular chorus (I know it is now days). Most likely a personal recitation of well-discipled truth…very personal.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are protected.

casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you.
SHIFTING PERSPECTIVES ()
Life intrudes with a challenge to the well-discipled truth. David struggles through (works through) the issue he faces.
I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
Vv. 5-8 serve as the heart of the encouragement, instruction.
teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

SURE PROMISE ()
A confession of faith is more than a listing of theological trivia. It is a personalized restatement of biblical truth…in this case, of God’s reliable promise.
For God speaks time and again, but a person may not notice it.
Praise him for his powerful acts; praise him for his abundant greatness.
Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! I say, “The Lord is my portion, therefore I will put my hope in him.”

and faithful love belongs to you, Lord. For you repay each according to his works.
God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: strength belongs to God, and faithful love belongs to you, Lord. For you repay each according to his works.
