Who is My Neighbor

When studying God’s Word (the Bible), an essential theme would be the Life and Ministry of Jesus Christ. A study of Jesus includes a focus on His teachings. One of the most well known teaching—one that has embedded itself into the society, is The Parable of the Good Samaritan.

Our study centers on the passage found in

Luke 10:25 ESV

25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

One aspect of Jesus’ experience was certain people were wanting to challenge his teachings and his authority. In this setting Jesus was teaching his disciples and others.

An Encounter with Jesus

A lawyer (an expert at Old Testament Law), probably one who viewed Jesus’ teachings as a threat to his traditions and beliefs, asked Jesus a question. This appears to be an attempt to trip Jesus up—to discredit Jesus.
