Hope In Christ’s Return (; & )

(; & )

Do you have hope in Christ’s return? Those who have placed their faith in Christ do have hope in His return one day.
My name is Pastor James Shank (flash social links) and I am the Associate Pastor of Cornerstone Bible Church in Gothenburg, Nebraska (Show name with church logo and location). Please like and subscribe to my channel for Daily Devotionals and other videos.
Today we will be looking at two passages: and .
The author of the book of Acts is Luke, the same Luke who wrote the gospel titled with his name. In both accounts he is writing to his friend Theophilus about inquiries he had made about the truth of Jesus. The first chapter of Acts picks up right where the gospel of Luke left off, but adds details to how Jesus descended.
(Read ) Scripture notes they were all in Bethany. Then Jesus blessed them and departed into heaven (that is into the sky above). Note, Jesus left them and they went on their way in joy and were blessing God in the temple! They had hope and we learn a little more about that hope in Acts chapter 1.
(Read ) Here we get more of what Jesus said before He departed, about how they would be baptized by the Holy Spirit in verse five. How they were to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth in verse eight. After Jesus finished speaking, here is what Luke records as happening next.
(Read ) Luke records the exact account of what happened.
The disciples were looking at Him
He was lifted up
A cloud took Jesus out of their sight
They were gazing into heaven (In awe most likely, probably with their jaws dropped open-based on what happens next)
.
Two men in white robes stood beside them
Saying, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking up into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way you saw him go into heaven.”
This gives us insight in why the disciples were headed back to Jerusalem in joy and blessing God in the Temple. He was going to return, giving His disciples and all people hope of His return. That would excite me! Would that excite you?
Turn to Revelation chapter one and look at verse seven. Here John beautifully records how Jesus will return.
(Read ) Jesus will return with the clouds, the same way He left, just as the two men in white clothing said He would as recorded by Luke in the book of Acts. Now, we do not formally know where He will return, but He may be returning back to the very spot He left, on the Mt. of Olives in Bethany. Or perhaps Jerusalem? This is what all followers of Jesus Christ are waiting for, His return. Our hope is placed in Christ and His return. The book of Revelation is a book of hope for believers. (See my videos on Revelation).
This will also not be an isolated event, all will see Him. How do think that is possible? What are you watching this video on now? Your phone, computer, social media? It is know secret that the world can receive information in an instant. This will be big news, please do not miss it.
Jesus is returning and the hope of His return should lift your spirits daily and bring you joy as it did His disciples.
May the King of Kings and Lord of Lords bless you always.
