18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matt
What happens when everything stops?
What happens when the church doors close?
What happens when Christianity is Quarantined?
19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Prayer
Oh Lord, as we enter into this strange time in the history of humanity we come before you recognizing just how small we are. With all our technology, wealth, education, strength, and drive we are waylaid by a microscopic organism, a virus. We must not gather together, because of love for one another we are constrained to keep our distance. It is a strange time indeed for separation to be an illustration of love. We give you glory and thanks that although we might be separated from each other you are not separated from us, in fact your word says...
1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Thank you LORD Jesus for never leaving nor forsaking us. Thank you for this day, thank you that we have the ability to gather together virtually. I pray that your word would grant us hope and encouragement as we look to you to teach us what to do when Christianity is quarantined! We ask this in your Holy Name, the name of Jesus… Amen

is the longest Psalm in the Bible I want to read you some sections of it… 22 sections 176 verses
1 Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!
Ps 119:1
9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.
:
17 Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word.
:
25 My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word!
:
33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end.
:
41 Let your steadfast love come to me, O Lord, your salvation according to your promise;
:
49 Remember your word to your servant, in which you have made me hope.
:
57 The Lord is my portion; I promise to keep your words.
65 You have dealt well with your servant, O Lord, according to your word.
73 Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.
81 My soul longs for your salvation; I hope in your word.
89 Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.
:
:89
97 Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
113 I hate the double-minded, but I love your law.
:105
121 I have done what is just and right; do not leave me to my oppressors.
129 Your testimonies are wonderful; therefore my soul keeps them.
137 Righteous are you, O Lord, and right are your rules.
145 With my whole heart I cry; answer me, O Lord! I will keep your statutes.
:145
153 Look on my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget your law.
161 Princes persecute me without cause, but my heart stands in awe of your words.
169 Let my cry come before you, O Lord; give me understanding according to your word!

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Cor
5 And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Jesus won the victory, He cannot be beaten
Jesus opened/is our way, it cannot be closed
Jesus is our hope and peace, it cannot be stollen
Jesus has cleansed us, we cannot be defiled
He is our Confidence
Do Not Stop Growing
V23-24
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
Heb 10
12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Matt 28.18-19

But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Jesus gave us the command
If we are honest we know we need it
If we love God and each other we will pursue growth
We have a duty to our God, to one another, and to ourselves to grow in godliness!
We have a Commission
We have a duty to our God, to one another, and to ourselves to grow in godliness!
Do Not Make This Your Habit
V25
25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Heb 10.25
9 As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.
46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,
12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. 14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many.
Jesus modeled the method
First century church counted it as normal and required
If we do we are in danger of spiritual atrophy

Who am I / Hell will not prevail
13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.
