Welcome to the very first podcast by Liberty presented by pastor James

We have been going through Romans chapter 12 looking at the gifts given by Jesus to the church

Gifts such as serving, encouraging, giving and being merciful are fundamental qualities for every follower of Jesus both in a public setting and in your private life

The apsotle Paul goes on in this part of his letter to share some insight into how each one of us can show love in action

In fact this series of mini sermons will be titled love in action.

Romans chapter 12 verse 9 says love must be sincere, hate what is evil, cling to what is good

Three little phrases packing a powerhouse of godly attitude and intention along with all the grace and power coming out of the Holy Spirit living within us

Love must be sincere

love is the sacrificial love of Jesus

Jesus dying on the cross, serving all of mankind rather than oneself

love that thinks of others aboveyourself

a love that keeps husband and wife loving each other

a love that extends itself to look after sick and hurting people even at great cost to you

a love coming from heaven itself and not from our selfishness

Sincere means real, heartfelt, no deceit or hesitancy

sincere means that it is genuine

people know when there is a unloving attitude

people know when you are doing it for your benefit and not theirs

quite simply be prayerful about what you do and when you do it

go full out to love that other person

Hate what is evil

no place for compromise

no place for settling for second best

no place in tolerating anything less than the best

refuse to allow a lie to come into your actions

Paul knows exactly what is needed - hate what is evil but cling to what is good

Cling to what is good

cling gives a picture of a person overboard clinging on for deart life to the life raft

so for us followers of Jesus - cling to what is good

firstly it must be Jesus for he is mighty to save and empower

next find what is good and godly and cling to that

keep going, and do not worry if you do not quite get there at the beginning

persist ubntil you get good, cling until you get rescued

do not give up do not surrender

have sincere love and do good in all that you do

Be blessed and remember that there is a God moment waiting for you right now.

Bring Jesus into the life of someone you will meet

Allow the holy Spirit to work in that situation - it could be a prayer or an act of mercy

Watch for the miracle that will come for God wants to work in this situation
