Previously I’ve given you some Old Testament prophecies fulfilled by our Lord Jesus
I’m gonna give you a couple more today and on Monday, we will begin with chapter of 2 of the Gospel of John
Why Did They Follow Jesus?
It is worthy to note that the first disciples of Jesus followed him because
He fulfilled what the prophets wrote about him
He fulfilled what Moses written in the law [scripture | pentateuch]
BOOK
BOOK
THE CHIEF PRIEST USE JUDAS’ ABANDONED BLOOD MONEY TO PURCHASE A FIELD
It is remembered the Judas sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver— and because of his extreme guilt— he returned the money to the chief priest— consequently, the chief priest used the money to buy a field
13 And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord.
9 Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10 and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”
Jeremiah also prophesied about this in chapter 18:1-3
JESUS’S HEALING MINISTRY
4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
'“Tunay ngang inalis niya ang ating mga kahinaan, pinagaling niya ang ating mga karamdaman. Subalit inakala nating iyo'y parusa ng Diyos sa kanya. ' Isaias 53:4
The prophetic career of Isaiah was in 701-742 BC
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”
The term “Infirmities” & “diseases” was used in Scripture synonymously with sickness, illness, plague, and pestilence
Jesus is our Physical Healer
And in it says…
24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
A lot of times this verse is misquoted and greatly used out of context
Many times and many christians, quote this verse to encourage a physically sick person— you have to be very careful. Because that is not the application of this passage.
When you read the pericope [story] where this verse came from, Peter talked about “living godly lives in a Pagan society”— living righteous lives in an unrighteous society
Peter spoke about spiritual healing— Jesus is not just our physical healer, He also is our spiritual healer
