The Surprising Scope of the Work of the Holy Spirit

The Bible makes it clear that every Christian is ‘baptised with the Holy Spirit’ [Mark 1:8; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13] One baptism: Ephesians 4:4-6 Ongoing, continuous filling: Ephesians 5:18 Note: The baptism of the church occurred at a point in history at Pentecost and every new Christian comes into that Baptism. However, the ongoing filling of the Spirit is the daily and moment by moment empowering and energising of the indwelling Spirit who lives within us. The filling is not some much a picture of an empty cup being filled by a jug from without, but rather submission to God the Spirit within us; obeying His Bible; forsaking sin and allowing His power and influence to fill, dominant and influence us. Remember that the Spirit is a Person not simply a source of power! What results would you expect to see in the lives of those who possess and are filled with the Spirit?
