Opening Prayer

Good Lord, who enabled Lazarus at the sound of your voice to rise from the tomb: Grant us to hear your voice in our souls, and to rise through grace from the depth of our own sin, that we may proclaim your mercy; Who lives and reigns, O holy and blessed Trinity, one God, now and forever. Amen.
(Mozarabic Sacramentary; Alt. TJC)

Pastoral Prayer

Almighty God, through your Spirit you give us life. You hear our cries, and your ear is attentive to our supplications. For your continuing mercy we offer to you our thanks and praise. By your mighty and glorious Name we are saved from the limits of the flesh and given new life by the Spirit. Holy is your Name.
We know that we have been called to be your children by your Spirit, and yet we so often follow the way of the flesh. In seeking to please ourselves we know that we fail to please you. But you have shown from generation ot generation that there is forgiveness with you. Help us to wait upon you morning by morning, redeem us, the children of your own making.
When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead you showed us the way of your life. Pour out your Spirit upon us anew that we may be enlivened once more to carry the good news of your love. Strengthen us to walk in the day as well as the night by filling us with the Light who is Christ
As your Son comforted Mary and Martha, so now comfort those who mourn. Lift up those who have fallen. Be with those who are lonely and give relief from suffering to thsoe who are ill in body, mind, or spirit; help us to use our infirmity for your glory. Especially, we pray for..
Hear our prayers this day, O God, for we offer them in the Name of the One who is the resurrection and the life, Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray by saying...

Scripture Lesson

Psalm 130 NRSV
A Song of Ascents. 1 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord. 2 Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications! 3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? 4 But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered. 5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; 6 my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning. 7 O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem. 8 It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.
