“Stay In The House” - House Cleaning

“Stay In The House” Week two and we know from last week we have made some declarations “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
During this time of Isolation or “Shelter in place,” I’m realizing that Isolation can lead to introspection
During this time of Self-Examination, we can identify areas that need:
Sanitation - Sterilization - Even Purification in our home.
Do you remember Saturday Mornings deep at your house?
You had to wash walls - base boards - widows - dust....f
My momma would call it a “Deep Cleaning”
That’s what we want to deal with in week 2 - Let’s clean house!
Living Room - Pride
Mark 5:21–24 ESV
And when Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered about him, and he was beside the sea. Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, he fell at his feet and implored him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” And he went with him. And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him.
Ruler of the Synagogue - The ruler of the synagogue was the man chosen to care for the physical arrangements of the synagogue services.
The ruler of the synagogue was the man chosen to care for the physical arrangements of the synagogue services.
A person who had a major role in temple worship
“He fell at his feet” - Look at this act of humility
He was willing to lay aside his title because of his need.
My little daughter (12) is at the point of death. Come and lay your hand on her!
“So that she may be made well and live” - He believed!
We have to realize that we may be dealing with situations that need immediate attention…
The spirit of pride
Let’s deal with the dirtiness of pride that’s in the living room
Pride that leads to thoughts of self-sufficiency / self-sustaining / Self-dependent / self-supported.
We can believe that we can handle this situation! Even though the situation is at the point of death:
Jairus let all pride aside… He didn’t care about the people around…
He fell at his feet…
James 4:6 ESV
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
The Room - Fear
We understand this the story where the woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of his garment.
Mark 4:34 ESV
He did not speak to them without a parable, but privately to his own disciples he explained everything.
Mark 5:34 ESV
And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”
Mark 5:35 ESV
While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler’s house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”
Mark 5:35–36 ESV
While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler’s house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.”
While he was
“There came from the ruler’s house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”
What do you do when your humility brings you to a place of horror? (horror: painful and intense fear, dread, or dismay)
“Your daughter is dead” -
Listen to this question - Why trouble the Teacher any further?
Have you ever felt this way:
Why keep praying, if things are not getting better
Why keep believing...
Why keep giving...
Why keep serving...
Situations don’t seem to keep getting better but worse!
But I’m so thankful for a “But” - “But overhearing what they said...”
Wait.. Jesus was talking to the women with the issue of blood…
While he’s talking, he’s overhearing
We serve a God that is dealing with one house and at the same time overhearing everything in your house!
We cannot fear but only believe… Only believe
Not Belief + a back up plan
Belief +
or After you done all you can.... Just believe
The same one that delivered the woman is the same one thats going work things out for me.
Believe that I can - Believe That I will = Believe That I’m able
Controlling The Conversations - In My House
The Front Porch - The Inner Circle
Mark 5:37 ESV
And he allowed no one to follow him except Peter and James and John the brother of James.
Three times Jesus took an inter circle of three and they all had to do something with death:
The death of Jairus daughter - VICTORIOUS OVER DEATH.
All three events have something to do with DEATH. In the healing of Jairus’ daughter the Lord proved that He is VICTORIOUS OVER DEATH. On the Mount of Transfiguration the Lord showed the favored three that He would be GLORIFIED IN HIS DEATH. And in the Garden of Gethsemane the disciples saw the Lord Jesus SURRENDERING TO DEATH.
On the Mount of Transfiguration - the Lord showed the favored three that He would be GLORIFIED IN HIS DEATH.
And in the Garden of Gethsemane - The disciples saw the Lord Jesus SURRENDERING TO DEATH.
We need to learn a lesson from Jesus
There are people who you know
People you may consider friends
But you have better have inner cycle…
People who can handle my Victories - Promotions - and Suffering
While I’m in the house I have to control the conversations I’m having with people outside of my house..
Checking your inner circle!
Controlling The Commotion At My House
Mark 5:38 ESV
They came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and Jesus saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly.
Commotion: Disturbance
There they found the official mourning already underway. Among the throng were flute-players and professional mourners hired for the funeral.
Mark 5:39 ESV
And when he had entered, he said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping.”
We have to watch who let in the house
It could be from people I’m allowing thats causing commotion
Or other family allowing people in my house that brings a disturbing spirit with them.
Unnecessary commotion
“The child is not dead but sleeping” - Jesus does not see things the way we see them.
Mark 5:40 ESV
And they laughed at him. But he put them all outside and took the child’s father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was.
The professional / The commotion “Laughed at Him
But Jesus put them all outside the house…
The commotion / disturbance / The drama / The doubt / The negativity has to Go!!!
The Order Of The House
Jesus takes the Father and the Mother
I’m talking to Fathers and mothers or Single parents and singles.
Jesus wants to take you in your house right to where you feel the situation is dead!
If you can believe - Get ready to be amazed
Mark 5:41–43 ESV
Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement. And he strictly charged them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat.
