Exodus 12:14-17
Exodus 12:14-17
“And this day will become a memorial for you, and you will celebrate it as a religious feast for Yahweh throughout your generations; you will celebrate it as a lasting statute. You will eat unleavened bread for seven days. Surely on the first day you shall remove yeast from your houses, because anyone who eats food with yeast from the first day until the seventh day—that person will be cut off from Israel. It will be for you on the first day a holy assembly and on the seventh day a holy assembly; no work will be done on them; only what is eaten by every person, it alone will be prepared for you. “And you will keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread, because on this very day I brought out your divisions from the land of Egypt, and you will keep this day for your generations as a lasting statute.
This is the week of the Jewish Passover.
This is a remembrance from the Exodus of Egypt. The most important event in the Old Testament. When you think about things in the Bible and you think important, One of the if not THE first thing you could think of is JESUS. And you would be right. But in the Old Testament and for the Jews, It’s the Exodus event. They even base their calendar on this According to tradition we are 5779 years from the Exodus and that is the current year in the Hebrew Calendar.
This festival last for about 8 days. There are multiple events going on here.
Pesach
Pesach
Pesach is the day in which it is remembered in which the blood of the lamb was slain and put upon the door post and the spirit of the lord Passed over the Israelites and did not Kill the first born. Then the People of God were force away from their slavery and left so quickly that they bread had no time to rise.
Giving birth to the feast of unleavened bread
Then while celebrating though lining in booths or stick tents where the people remember living in wilderness.
See the book of Exodus
Put it all together and you have an 8 day festival that is one of the most commonly observed Jewish Holidays even by non-observant Jews.
They avoid yeast during this time.
The process of cleaning the home of all chametz in preparation for Pesach is an enormous task. To do it right, you must prepare for several weeks and spend several days scrubbing everything down, going over the edges of your stove and fridge with a toothpick and a Q-Tip, covering all surfaces that come in contact with food with foil or shelf-liner, etc., etc., etc. After the cleaning is completed, the morning before the seder, a formal search of the house for chametz is undertaken, and any remaining chametz is burned. – Jewfaq.org- Judaism 101
Matzah is eaten at this time. Made of flour and water cooked very quickly in many different forms. There is also minor fast involved and shabbots.
This is a time of remembrance, of teaching, of learning, of growing closer to HaShem
As we look at The Life of Jesus we see that Jesus actually participates in this festival on several occasions
John 2 and 6 are examples of this.

I have always found the idea of Jesus celebrating Passover Amazing, because He that is to become the Passover lamb grows up celebrating Passover.
On the next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Users present the cup
Jesus will be the blood that will be shed for your sins for my sins
The lamb of God who was slain.
What an enormous gift to take away the punishment of our sin. To cover us with the blood so that the angel of death would Passover us. Not that you will not one day pass away but that you have life eternally a life that does not fade away now and always
Is the blood covering your door?

“Hear, Israel, Yahweh our God, Yahweh is unique. And you shall love Yahweh your God with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your might. And these words that I am commanding you today shall be on your heart. And you shall recite them to your children, and you shall talk about them at the time of your living in your house and at the time of your going on the road and at the time of your lying down and at the time of your rising up. And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as an emblem between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorframe of your house and on your gates.
But once you have the blood of Salvation there needs to be something else covering your door
The Love of God pours through you. Love the Lord your God with all your essence and love your neighbor as yourself. And this should be covering your door. This should be covering you.
Is it part of all that you are and do
You love of God that flows through you and in you. Or is loving God with all that you are too abstract
And it is just something you do
And there for can choose not to do
IS God and His boundless love Covering you?
Pray and Bless
