Modern Sons of Issachar
Just before David became King of Israel, Saul the current king of Israel kept trying to kill him...

While david had many opportuinties to defeat Saul.. David would say “I will not touch the Lord’s annointed.”
However David was becoming more and more popular that warriors were just joining his side.
But in an interesting thing happens instead of warriors joining David we read of a whole different group:
1 Chronicles 12:32 NLT
32 From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.
Introduction
Just before David became King of Israel, Saul the current king of Israel kept trying to kill him...
In the middle of the country being confused and internal battles
These guys understood the times they were living in, and knew what to do.
I dont know about you but if there were ever a time for some Modern day sons of Isaacar today is the day.
Good thing is that Jesus already spoke a lot about the times we are living in and has already told us what to do.
My goal today is to show you what Jesus said about the times we are living in and what He said to do
I think the first thing we should look at the parable Jesus said in
Matthew 24:32–35 NKJV
32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
Matthew 24:32–33 NKJV
32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!
Jesus is saying here that you will be able to recognize signs that will tell us the end is near
Luke 21:28 NKJV
28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
NKJV28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
Notice he said “when these things begin to happen”
teaching us that some of the signs may not all happen yet…
what are the things we should see to know when the time is near?
Well that is a huge study because there are so many verses that we do not have the time to go through:
I have shared with you alot from so today I want us to walk through
Turn your Bibles to
Matthew 24:1–3 NKJV
1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

What Jesus said about the time:

Matthew 24:4–5 NKJV
4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
Matthew 24:4 NKJV
4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.
Matthew 24:1
1. People will claim to be the Christ:
the word Christ:
‘God’s appointed one’ or ‘God’s specially chosen one’ or ‘the expected one,’ in the sense of one to whom everyone was looking for help and deliverance.
Matthew 24:6
Matthew 24:6 NKJV
6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
2. Wars & rumors of wars:
There has been a constant stream of some war taking place.. especially in the middle East.
Israel and Palestians have been at it
Jesus also says rumors of wars… remember earlier this year there was rumors of WW3 starting.
Matthew 24:7–8 NKJV
7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Matthew 24:
here we see the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th things:
3. Nation will rise against nation & kingdom against kingdom
Israel vs. Palestine. Muslims vs. world.
4. Famines
This is something that has been in the decline since 1870’s but especially since 1960’s (ourworldindata.org)
Last recorded famine was in Somalia between 2010 to 2016 with 255,000 affected (note in 1870 over 20 million were affected mostly through Asia)
So this is something in decline… but we know how things can change in a day.
also taught us that we are looking for the begginng of signs:
which clearly we are seeing.
5. Pestilences
(Gk: “poimos” - any epidemic disease with a high death rate)
This is definitely a major increase (esp in last 10 years)
HIV/Aid (1981)
Pneomic plague (1994)
Sars (2003)
Bird Flu (2006)
Dengue Fever (2006)
Swine Flue (2009)
Cholera (2010)
Mers (2013)
Ebola (2014)
Measles (2014)
Zika (2016)
Measles (2019)
6. Earthquakes
There has been a steady increase since late 1800’s
Read
Matthew 24:9–31 NKJV
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. 15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. 23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand. 26 “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28 For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together. 29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
We already read
that was the parable teaching us that there will be signs to know when the end is coming.
Now Lets look at - 44
Matthew
7. Be like the days of Noah around time of the rapture.
Basically people will be completely clueless
Here is what is interesting is that from 2,000 years ago up to about a few weeks ago...
Scholars and pastor had a hard time figuring out how will the world not know when suddenly the church is missing?
They would say things from the church in end times be practically dead so no one will notice…
to saying that when the rapture happens the world will just think that aliens abducted them
like I said it has been kinda challenging to think how can the world not realize the rapture happened?
As we all know a few weeks ago the Corona Virus picked up speed.
As a result of that for the 1st time since the church started in 2,000 years the church is back in the home.
People not going to church any more.
So if the rapture happened and church parking lot is empty for the first time in 2,000 years the world will not think any different.
How do we explain then family members?
Well also for first time in years that people with the virus are told to stay home…
as a result now we are hearing more and more of people just dying in their homes
On Fox News 5 days ago we read of a mom who died of corona virus in her home with her 4 year old child next to her body, they believe she had been dead for 12-16 hours.
If this Corona Virus continues to grow (it is) stories like this will become common…
so will people think that we just died of the virus, when actually we were raptured?
Maybe? Idk
Other things in Bible about signs of the last days:
1. Abomination of desolation taking place:
means - temple - temple Institute, Jews demanding a right to worship at temple mount,
2.
2. One world government is a sign - UK Prime Minister call for 1 world government is all over the news
3. AntiChrist is a political leader - right now Israel is looking for someone to lead them and give them what they want (Temple)
4. Antichrist is likely to come out of Rome and offer hope - with this virus more than ever is Italy looking for someone to give them hope
So the next section in Matthew is about what we should do:
remember the sons of Issacar understood the times and knew what to do.
Lets now look at what to do

What to do:

While David had many opportunities to defeat Saul..
1. Dont be troubled ()
Matthew 24:6 NKJV
6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
“troubled” - present, passive. imperative
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
:
What this shows me that God knows this will scare us....and the reason why He can say dont be troubled is because He is in control
Just because the world has been knocked off its heels doesnt mean Jesus is knocked off the throne.
As you can see Jesus described what these days are like 2,000 years ago… so He is not surprised by all this like the world is.
So He says dont be troubled… He knows… it is as planned.
2. Watch
Matthew 24:43–44 NKJV
43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
3. Dont get caught doing something you didn't want to be caught doing
Matthew 24:45–51 NKJV
45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47 Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51 and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 24:45-51
4. Look up
David would say “I will not touch the Lord’s anointed.”
Luke 21:28 NKJV
28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
watch pray,
However David was becoming more and more popular that warriors were just joining his side.
Now i added this because this will always be the case from now to the end:
5. Pray
God will never leave us or forsake us. (Heb 13:5)
6. Bring people to Jesus
But in an interesting thing happens instead of warriors joining David
It def seems like shows us that the gospel must be preached through all of the world before the end comes.
In days like we are living in today people need hope, but really they need Jesus.
I want to encourage you to not just look for your own comfort, love, and acceptance from Jesus but
Look out for others needs to.
So many people indulging in sin, what if we brought Jesus to them?
What a great time for someone to begin a relationship with God.. they would have plently of time to dig into His Word.
I cant preach to everyone,
If you bring them, invite them to our studies, I will.
But as Ryan pointed out last week “while many people lost their jobs we still have a job to do with Christ”
Dont get caught doing something your not supposed to do!
If you want to be a light in the dark world then give them Jesus
Talk about Him, dont be ashamed of him, @ people to join church services with you...
If they reject its on them, but when will you take the warnings and commands of Jesus seriously?
Pray
we read of a whole different group:

› We already read
that was the parable teaching us that there will be signs to know when the end is coming.
Now Lets look at : (to see the 7th sign)
“36 l“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of 6heaven, mbut My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 nFor as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 oThen two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 pWatch therefore, for you do not know what 7hour your Lord is coming. 43 qBut know this, that if the master of the house had known what 8hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 rTherefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
