He Entered Triumphantly - SERMON NOTES Zechariah 9:9; Luke 19:1-11; John 12:1-18 Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem! Look, your King is coming to you; he is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. What Happened During Holy Week: 1. The Friday before Good Friday: In Jericho, Zacchaeus became a Jesus-follower. Luke 19:1-11 2. Saturday before Palm Sunday: In Bethany, Mary anointed Jesus. John 12:1-8 3. Palm Sunday: Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. Zech. 9:9; Jn. 12:12-18; Mt. 21:1-11; Mk. 11:1-10; Lk. 19:29-38 4. Monday - Wednesday: Jesus taught the crowds in the Temple and the Disciples in Bethany. Luke 19:47-22:6; Matthew 21:18-26:56 5. Maundy Thursday: Jesus laid low in Bethany, celebrated the Last Supper, issued the New Commandment, prayed in the Garden, and was arrested by the Temple Guard. Luke 22:7-53; John 13:1-18:12 6. Good Friday: Jesus endured six trials, was mocked, beaten and crucified while the sin of the world was laid upon Him, buried in a rich man’s tomb, and takes the thief on the cross to Paradise. Luke 23; John 18:13-19:42 7. Holy Saturday: Jesus descended to Hades and led captives free to heaven. Ephesians 4:7-10 8. Resurrection Sunday: Jesus rose from the dead, greeted Mary Magdalene, walked 7 miles with friends, walked through a wall, and ate some fish. Luke 24:1-35; John 20:1-23
