The Goal

The goal of Christian Discipleship is conformity to Christ ().
This is captured in the term godliness
I like how Donald Whitney puts it in his book Spiritual Disciplines.
I define godliness as both closeness to Christ and conformity to Christ, a conformity that’s both inward and outward, a growing conformity to both the heart of Christ and the life of Christ. (Whitney, 9)
This is Christlikeness.

The Spiritual Discplines

“The Spiritual Disciplines are those personal and interpersonal activities given by God in the Bible as the sufficient means believers in Jesus Christ are to use in the Spirit-filled, gospel-driven pursuit of godliness, that is, closeness to Christ and conformity to Christ.”
