Ps 127:7
1 Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
The New American Commentary: Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah 3. Woe to Those Who Build on Bloodshed (2:12–14)
All work not serving God’s purposes is futile work good only for the flames of history forgotten.
God’s purpose goes beyond simply punishing the wicked. God desires that all the world know him.

9 O Israel, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
3 You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
4 Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
People have often misplaced trust
riches
important people
military fortification
personal abilities
God will be glorified among all people.
God will be glorified among all people.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,
God is seated in his holy temple.
God is seated in his holy temple.
For Habakkuk, the “temple” probably meant not only the temple in Jerusalem but also the heavenly sanctuary
2 Hear, you peoples, all of you;
pay attention, O earth, and all that is in it,
and let the Lord God be a witness against you,
the Lord from his holy temple.
