The Herald Calls for repentance and baptism
repentance is turning away from sin and running to God
it is saying i’m sorry and i am going to live in a new way.
Good old love songs: songs were someone is apologizing for bad actions and promises to move in a different direction.

the premise is I desire you so much that i am willing to give up my old self, put on a new self, to move forward
The Herald asks for Fruit of Repentance
Fruit of the Spirit
Gal 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
It’s sad that many believers don’t show any fruit of their salvation: this is why so many have a bad view on Christianity. Its not that most are offended by Jesus(which many are, the Gospel is offensive to those who are perishing).
Countless studies show most are offended or put off by so called followers of Jesus who bear no Fruit.
People are still doing what they did before this change that took place in their lives.
Once Jesus comes into our lives: their is a change that should take place. As the songwriter said “ what a wonderful change”
we don’t act and carry on the way we used to.
I know its hard: it’s hard to make an abrupt change after living a certain way for so long.

Baptism is important because it Identifies us with God and His Mission
Baptism is one of the ordinances of the CHurch. The other is Communion, which we will participate in virtually at the 11am service.
why do we get baptized? In obedience
Meaning of Baptism
Baptism is a one time event that signifies:
identification with Christ,initiation into the Christian faith, andentrance into the Christian church.
Lots of passages point this way, and I won't list them all, but think for example about the Great Commission (we are commanded to make disciples, baptizing them in the name of Father, Son, and Spirit – ), or multiple references in Acts, where people are baptized in the name of Jesus (, ; ), or the Epistles, where Paul speaks of being baptized into Christ and into the body (; ). Consider especially where Paul says that by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. In other words, baptism is what identifies someone with Christ and unites someone to the church. We also see this in , where people repent, believe, and are baptized and thus are "added" to the church ().
Baptism shows that we are all in. Are you all in?
Covid-19 has shown us a lot; one of the things it has shown us is the worlds love for sports. I thought by working so hard, I had shaken off my consumption of sports. Life has been a little off balance because of ZERO live sports.

You know a true sports fan when you see them coming. They have the hat, t-shirt, the jersey, banners
the car is wrapped in the team logo and colors. . the flags are mounted in the windows.
the coffee mug has the logo. . they are consumed and fully covered in who they are cheering for.
They wear their commitment and the reality of being all in
thats what baptism represents for us. . we are not fans. . rather followers of Christ. Let’s wear His well.
