HOOK

I’ve been asking everyone for a couple of things— read ahead and write down your impressions and or questions on your journal [notebook].— If you’re doing this, kindly type “amen” on the comment section of this live broadcast
This has to become habitual because this is among the good spiritual habits that every believer should develop if they want to truly grow in their walk with Jesus
They said, it will take a person doing something 21 times before it became a habit— why don’t you take a selfie with your Bible and Journal and post them here. I want to see you all grow in your faith— do it not for me— do it for yourself!
Previously— we learned that “timeless principles” are always present in the Word of God
The wedding at Cana, the clearing of the temple by Jesus in Jerusalem— all these pericopes [in other words— short stories], has biblical “timeless” principles behind them— and for you to get more from what you’re reading— you must learn how to ASK the right questions— PULL OUT the timeless principles [write them down using your own words], and APPLY those principles in your life
I hope and pray sincerely that you guys are getting this— do not hesitate to raise questions if you don’t! — I’ll be here to help you through the help of the Holy Spirit
Ok, today let’s begin with Chapter 3 of the Gospel of John— I will divide the content into several days— I don’t want us to rush through this very important spiritual truth, and theological fact concerning salvation, eternal life and kingdom of God— every believer should clearly know and understand this— are you ready?— open your Bible on Chapter 3!
Who is Nicodemus— “conqueror of people”— a common name in first century AD. He only appears In john’s Gospel, where he is described as a Pharisee, a ruler of the Jews, and a teacher of Israel— John also implies that Nicodemus is a wealthy man. Later, Nicodemus is shown defending Jesus before the Jewish authorities
What is Jewish ruling council— Sanhedrin
Why at night?— He may have feared being publicly associated with Jesus— night represents darkness— darkness could mean blindness— this could also be metaphorically used for moral

BOOK

John 3:1–7 NIV
1 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” 3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” 4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’
' Juan 3:1-7

Facts:
NO ONE CAN SEE THE KINGDOM OF GOD UNLESS THEY ARE BORN AGAIN
Kingdom of God is a prominent theme of the synoptic Gospels [Matthew, Mark, Luke & John]— for Nicodemus, the phrase would have evoked the prophetic images of the future reign of the Messiah
For Jesus— the idea of coming to God through His saving work is about transitioning from earthly kingdom to God’s kingdom
Unless they are born again— Nicodemus— a brilliant teacher and leader of the Jews, had a hard time understanding what Jesus just said— so Jesus had to elaborate...
UNLESS THEY ARE BORN OF WATER AND THE SPIRIT
Jesus elaborates on the meaning of being born again from above— Emphasizing the need for spiritual birth
Emphasizing the need for spiritual birth
Jesus is inaugurating the age of renewal anticipated by the OT prophets
Joel 2:28 NIV
28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
FLESH GIVES BIRTH TO FLESH, THE SPIRIT GIVES BIRTH TO SPIRIT
We are born of flesh through Adam & Eve
1 Corinthians 15:45 NIV
45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.

The spiritual did not come first but the natural— and after that the spiritual
