If you were a kid in the 1980’s, you will remember the line ‘I don’t want to grow up, I’m a toy’s-r-us kid…they got a million toys at Toys r us that I can play with...
I don’t know what it’s like in your home but in our home - when it comes to maturity - I often am the one who lags behind in areas.
EX - Used to make the phone ring back…locking the bathroom door so no one could get in...
When I was a kid, MTV and VH1 were popular and I can remember my mom pointing something out that stuck with me - people crying when they saw Michael Jackson and New Kids on the Block----silly!
There are certainly other forms of immaturity…delayed adolescence…decision paralysis…etc.
Part of maturing is simply cognitive development.

However, sometimes maturity is not about leaving childish things behind but it is simply exercising wisdom or embracing responsibility. Today, our young seniors are having to mature quickly. By know choice of their own, their school year has abruptly ended and there will be no final celebrations or memories. That’s not an easy thing.
A Sharp Rebuke of Childish Behavior
We should be people of the Gospel
Paul issues here a pointed rebuke of the Corinthians for their childish behavior. They have elevated status over service…and they have emphasized style over substance.

He could not address them as spiritual people.
First, pay attention to the fact that Paul calls them ‘brothers’ (and sisters in the CSB). Notice 2: 14-15 where Paul compares the natural person and the spiritual person. The natural person does NOT accept the things of the Spirit nor does the Spirit of God dwell in the natural person. They are devoid of spiritual life. Paul does not call the Corinthians unbelievers - He calls them brothers and that he could not address them as spiritual people.
