Good Morning church! It is so good to be in God’s house this morning, though it would feel alot more like church if the church were here with us.
I want to begin by letting you know that we mis you very much and we are praying for the day when we can all be back together again. Until then we will continue to join hearts in worship. That’s why we gather today to worship our Lord, it is why we all try to log on at the same time, Max Lucado once said that Worship is the thank you that cannot be silenced Amen?
So this morning is all about giving the Lord praise I would like to start us out with prayer and then we will begin our worship this morning, through the study of Gods word.

Heavenly Father thank you so much for coming to this Earth in order to set us free from sin, we love you Lord and we would be nothing without you.
Speak to your people today in Jesus name I pray amen!
In the church year we as believers like to celebrate Christmas and Easter and when we celebrate Easter we set aside the entire week of what we call passion week.
This was the week that lead up to the crucifixion and burial of Jesus which ended with His triumphant victory over the grave.
We observe Thursday and good friday, but it all starts the Sunday before Easter which we call Palm Sunday.
As many of you know today is palm Sunday this is the day where we celebrate Jesus coming into the world to establish His kingdom, to bring Heaven down to Earth so that we could know God by seeing His Son.
This event which we will see today is called the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.
Turn with me in your Bibles this morning to
Luke 19:28-
When He had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. And it came to pass, when He drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called Olivet, that He sent two of His disciples, saying, “Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here. And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’ ”
Now we have Jesus about to approach the Holy city and the secret that He has been guarding is about to be disclosed, as Jesus is going to make a public display identifying Himself as the MEssiah.
Now this is such a wierd story, because if Jesus wants to declare that He is the Messiah King then why doesnt He ride in on a golden chariot, well, the reason is that in the OT the prophets foretell of the MEssiah who would come and forgive the people of their sins.
What these prophets from hundreds of year before Jesus foretold and it wasnt common knowledge to just anyone but the religious elites would have known, was that the Messiah would come riding on a donkeys colt.
So Jesus makes intentional preparations for this entry He doesn’t just casually walk into the city, He tells His disciples I want you to go into this certain place and get this donkey that no one has ever ridden on.
Bring it here, and if they ask you what you are doing, you just tell em, the master has need of it and they’ll give it to you.
So this is part of the preparation part of the setting of the stage for Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem.
Jesus comes riding into town fufilling prophecy, He comes into town not in some grand fashion with all the pomp and circumstance of an Earthly King bvut instead He comes riding in looking almost foolish.
Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures:
‘The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone.
This was the Lord’s doing,
And it is marvelous in our eyes’?
You need to picture this the colt of a donkey was tiny, someone who is 5’8 their knees would be dragging the ground. We dont know how tall Jesus was but you get the picture He looks odd, strange.
This shows us the humility of our Lord, He didnt have the best, but instead He was the best.
Matthew 21
So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.
They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Hosanna in the highest!”
Matthew 21:7-
When we talk about someone famous, when we want to honor someone, like the president or somebody very important we say were going to “roll out the red carpet”
Have you ever heard this?
IT means you so value the person, that you want them to understand the importance of them, and you want to pay them the highest honor possible.
Jesus had a red carpet and it was much more important than that. People literally took off their cloaks to make a comfortable place for Him to sit on the animal, on the back of the donkey.
But not only did the people take thier clothes and put it on the back of the Donkey, but they took their clothes and threw them into the street on the path so the donkey could walk on them. This was done as a gesture of honor and celebration.
This was treating Him as a coming King, this was treatment for royalty.
As the people not only covering the pathway with their own cloaks but also with palm branches, and also were told that they were waving the palm branches. As they were lined up on the street, and they were shouting HOSANNA BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD.
What does all this mean?
What does the word HOSANNA mean?
Palm Branches were not called palm branches, but they were called Hosanna’s the idea was that the Hosanna or the palm branch was used to signify a great victory. So as a means of celebrating a great victory the people would wave the Palm branches and then they began to use the word Hosanna SHOUTING THEIR HAPPINESS AS A SHOUT OF VICTORY!
The palm branch signified VICTORY
Here comes the king and already the people are celebrating the victory that they believe this King will win for them.
Now what you will see is that just a few days later this same mob, this same crowd who is shouting Hosanna blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord will be the same ones who shout crucify Him crucify Him.
WHAT CHANGED?
How did they go from shouting victory and waving branches to honor Him to shouting crucify HIM?
They were disappointed because their expectations were not met, you see the people wanted Jesus to come as a conquering King, they wanted Jesus to coem and overthrow the Romans who were dominating the Jews and who ruled over them.
But Jesus did not come in His first coming as a conquering King but He came as a suffering Servant.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Listen to me this morning if you have sinned in your life, if you have ever overstepped the bounderies God has out in place, then you need to know this you have trangressed Gods law which means there is a penalty headed your way, it was once Headed my way but THE GIFT OF GOD IS THAT IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE THAT WAY NO MATTER WHAT YOU HAVE DONE OR WHERE YOU ARE GOD CAN GIVE YOU ETERNAL LIFE AND CHANGE YOU FROM THE INSIDE OUT BUT IT ONLY COME THROUGH REPENTING OF YOUR SINS AND TURNING TO JESUS CHRIST IN FAITH.
If anyone of us were going to have a chance to escape the panalty of sin someone had to pay the penalty for us.
That is why Jesus came to die in our place so that were could know forgiveness and love not wrath and condemnation!
God does not desire that any should perish but that all should come to repentance!
GOD LOVES YOU TODAY
But His plan is perfect, and His plan was not to establish an Earthly kingdom at this time it was to come and save you!
Just keep in mind the importance of this public celebration of victory with palm branches.
Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, saying:
“ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”
Luke 19:37
There it is, they praise God for the WORKS THAT HE DID
Not praising Jesus for who He was, and notice here Jesus is having all of these people praising the works that He did and conflict arises.
The people are singing and praising Him loudly but the religious establishment were upset by this, they think Jesus is a heretic as a threat to their teaching so they rebuke Jesus and they tell Him they say JESUS TELL YOUR PEOPLE TO BE QUIET.
But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”
Luke 19:40
Whats with all of this emotion, whats with all of this celebration, tell these people to hush, but here Jesus talls us something significant, if they hush the rocks wont.
Essentially JESUS IS SAYING I AM KING I AM LORD I CREATED THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH JESUS IS NOT ONLY LORD AND KING OVER THE CHURCH HE IS NOT SIMPLY THE KING OF KINGS
HE IS NOT SIMPLY THE LORD OF LORDS
BUT HE IS KING OF THE WORLD!!!
HIS RULE EXTENDS OVER ALL THE EARTH, AS PAUL TELLS US THE WHOLE CREATION GROANS TOGETHER WAITING FOR THE SECOND COMING OF THE SON FO GOD
I’m telling you church don’t be part of the group who only follows Jesus for what He can do for you, LOVE JESUS GIVE YOUR LIFE TO JESUS CHRIST!!! HE IS LORD OF CREATION~
IT IS POSSIBLE TO BE IN HIS BUILDING AND NOT KNOW HIM, IT IS POSSIBLE TO KNOW LOTS OF BIBLE TRIVIA AND NOT KNOW HIM, BUT LISTEN TO ME CHURCH THE LORD HAS MOVED US OUT OF THE CHURCH, HE HAS EMOVED US FROM OUR TIME OF GATHERING FOR REFLECTION!!!
WHERE ARE YOU?
ARE YOU WEEPING FOR THE LOST SOULS OF THIS WORLD
ARE YOU WEEPING FOR A DEEPER WALK WITH THE LORD
ARE YOU CRYING OUT?
This is why this matters guys, can I tell you something thats on my heart this morning?
ONE MORNING WERE GOING TO HEAR A LOUD SOUND IN THE DISTANCE, AND THIS ENTIRE WORLD IS GOING TO CHANGE.
RIGHT NOW GOD IS HOLDING BACK FROM POURING HIS WRATH OUT ON THIS EARTH BECAUSE HIS CHURCH IS HERE AND THAT IS RESTRAINING HIS WRATH FROM BEING POURED OUT IN JUDGEMENT AND HE IS WANTING TO GIVE EVERYONE A CHANCE TO REPENT AND TURN TO HIM BUT ONE DAY
A WOMAN WILL WAKE UP TO MAKE HERSELF SOME COFFEE AND CALL FOR HER HUSBAND AND HE WONT BE THERE.
A HUSBAND WILL CALL OUT FOR HIS WIFE AND SHE WONT BE THERE
THEY WILL BE WHIPPED UP INTO A FRENZY AND PANIC NOT KNOWING WHERE THEIR LOVED ONES ARE.
THEN THEY WILL REMEMBER THE EAR PEIRCING NOISE THAT WOKE THEM UP AND THEY WILL SEE THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE OUTSIDE PANICKING AS WELL THEN THEY WILL REMEMBER THEIR WIFE ALWAYS WANTED THEM TO GO TO CHURCH, BUT THEY REFUSED JESUS, MANY TIMES FOR FOOLISH REASONS
YOU DONT HAVE TO BE PERFECT TO COME TO JESUS YOU HAVE TO COME TO JESUS BECAUSE HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO IS PERFECT!
Many will stop listening to this bc it is not uplifting but ALL THE UPLIFTING WORDS I COULD SAY TO TICKLE YOUR EARS WONT MATTER ON THAT DAY.
Jesus is not a way to heaven, He is not the best way to Heaven, JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN
Jesus is not a good teacher to learn from, He is not an example to emmulate
HE IS THE LORD OF HEAVEN AND EARTH AND HE CAME TO SUFFER AND DIE IN YOUR PLACE TO GIVE YOU HOPE AND A FUTURE WITH HIM
At this point the Pharisees are upset
The Pharisees cant stop it, this crowd has been whipped up into a frenzy this crowd begins at the top of the mt of olives and winds its way down the mountainside and into the gates of the city and it takes more than a few minutes to make this trip, and the crowd is getting bigger and bigger as Jesus gets closer and closer!
Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,
Luke 19:41
saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.
Luke 19:42
Jesus sees HIs beloved city, the beloved nation which bore the name of God these were supposed to be Gods children. But notice they called Him teacher. They did not acknowledge who He was, they wanted Jesus to do their bidding but He had come not to bring them Earthly freedom but spiritual freedom.
Not to bring them Earthly victory but spiriual victory
I believe right now Jesus weeps over the state of our nation, over the wickedness here, and HE IS SAYING THE SAME THING TO OUR NATION THAT HE WAS SAYING TO ISRAEL BACK THEN, OG IF YOU WOULD ONLY SEE THE THINGS THAT MAKE FOR YOUR PEACE!
What makes for their peace HE DOES!!
JESUS COMES TO BRING PEACE WITH GOD!!!
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
John 3:16
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
DO YOU KNOW GOD WANTS TO BRING YOU PEACE TODAY IF YOU ARE NOT SAVED JESUS CAME AND DIED TO BRING PEACE AND RESTORED RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOU AND GOD!!
Listen to me guys the victory that was going to be won byt the end of the week looked more like defeat to the people, we thought He was going to overthrow Rome but now He is dying on a cursed tree.
We though He was going to set up our Earthly kingdom again but instead He is dying BUT WHAT HE WAS DOING WAS HE WASS WINNING VICTORY OVER DEATH AND THE GRAVE!!!
HE WAS OVERTHROWING THE POWERS OF DARKNESS WITH HIS LOVE FOR US
The beauty of the gospel .....

BUt listen to me
There can come a time when this truth can be hidden form the eyes of men and women, I dont that to be true for you this morning Jesus stands ready to forgive you and cleanse you But notice what happens here
For the days will come on you when your enemies will build an embankment against you, surround you, and hem you in on every side. They will crush you and your children within you to the ground, and they will not leave one stone on another in you, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”
