Through the law, the hope that mankind had to cling to was their obedience to keep the law. This hope was fleeting and created more fear than promise. When our hope is rooted in our strength, then it is no hope at all because we will fail. Jesus is the greater hope for in Him lies the promise of God. This promise is never changing and is not based on our doing but the already completed work of Christ. His hope is a firm foundation that nothing can change.

Our King Jesus

In this season of uncertainty, our hearts tend to become so focused on our circunstances. we become enthralled with the latest numbers that are seemingly updated each moment. We are hanging on for the next White House Briefing or update from the CDC.
We have a greater hope than what the world can offer in this season. Our hope is steadfast. He has faced far greater adversities than this and triumphed over them all.
Hebrews 10:19–21 NIV
Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God,
Hebrews 10:19-
The writer of Hebrews once again reinds our hearts of the wonders of our King.
Jesus has overcome every obstacles that has ever stood between us and the Lord. He went into battle on our behalf. He shed His blood first that ours would not be shed. He returned from the bloodiest of battles victorious and alive. Now He leads us down the same path of victory. This is who Jesus is.
The new way has been open through us to stand in the Lord’s presence. Our sinfulness and inablity to be holy denied us access before and a veil was erected to display this seperation. Now in Christ, we approach the throne through the veil of his perfection and righteousness. Our sins have been obsolved through His sacrifice and now there is not fear that we are unworthy and unfit for Christ has made us so.
Can we allow these words to take root in our hearts? It is easy for our faith to wain when we fail to truly know and believe in the One who has already done.
Example of early marriage compared to late marriage.

Our Present Hope

Hebrews 10:22–23 NIV
let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
So now because of all of this, our response must be to draw near to the Lord. When we allow our circumstances to keep us from God, we are denying the redmption of Christ and its impact on our lives. A crude example would be have an annual pass to Disneyland but to never go because the crowds were too large, the weather was not quite right. We have been given access to God directly. In every season, good or bad, we should be sincerely coming before Him and taking hold of what has been purchased for us.
We struggle in our faith when we fail to live in the midst of His presence, the reward of our faith. When we are not continually putting to work the very gift that has been given, it is no wonder that when we desire for the things of God that we struggle to hold to his promise.
The writer qualifies our approach to the Lord to be

Our Glorious Cry

Hebrews 10:24–25 NIV
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
