We’re going to pick up where we left off last time in our teaching on “Confessing The Word of God.” 1 of the reasons that we’re not receiving the promises of God is that we’re not confessing the Word of God. But it goes even further than that, if our confession is wrong and negative it may bring the problems into our life or even cause us to fall into bondage.

I) (PRO 6:2) says, “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth.”

A) The word “Snared” means “caught or taken into bondage.”

1) This is a warning that you can be brought into bondage by the word of your mouth.

B) Many of us are brought into bondage because of the words we are speaking.

1) Jesus said in (Matthew 12:34) “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”

a) If it’s in your heart you’re going to speak it out of your mouth.

2) Not only are you going to speak it or confess it, but you’ll also think on it and you’re go to see yourself in light of it.

a) If you have it in you heart that you’re a success then you’re going to see yourself as a success.

3) (Proverbs 23:7a) says, “For as a man thinketh in his heart so is he.”

C) An important aspect to the subject of confession is seeing yourself in the proper image. The way you see yourself is what you’ll be confessing and what you will become.

1) Remember, Solomon said in (PRO 23:7) “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

2) Jesus said, If it’s in your heart, then you’re going to be speaking it.

a) If you put the 2 Vs together then it would say, “If it’s in your heart, you’re going to be speaking it, and If it’s in your heart and you’re speaking it that what will come to pass in your live.”

D) (Numbers 13:33) says, “We were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”

1) We need to see ourselves in the proper image, seeing ourselves according to the Word of God; as the head, not the tail, Victorious, An overcomer.

a) Seeing ourselves as healed and walking in divine health.

II) In (Romans 1:16) it says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation.”

A) Paul said here that “The gospel is the power of God unto salvation.”

1) The GOSPEL is the Word of God.

2) This V is telling us that The Word of God is the power of God unto Salvation.”

B) The word Salvation comes from the Greek root wordSozo

1) Which means, “Save, salvation, healing, deliverance, safety, and soundness of mind.”

2) In other words it’s all the promises of God.

a) To put it all together (ROM 1:16) would say, “The Word of God is the power of God unto healing, soundness of mind, deliverance, safety, salvation and all the promises of God.”

C) HEB 4:12.

1) The Word of God is alive and it is powerful, that sounds a lot like (ROM 1:16). (“The Word of God is the power of God.”)

III) Look at MARK 11:24.

A) Notice that in this V it says that “When you pray, believe that ye receive.”

1) You have to believe or have faith before you’ll receive.

a) There’s power in faith.

(i) (1 Peter 1:5) Says, Who are kept (The New American Standard Bible says “PROTECTED”) by the power of God through faith unto salvation.”

(ii) It’s through faith that you tap into the Power of God and into the promises of God.

(iii) But how do you get the faith to receive?

b) (ROM 10:17) Says, So then faith {cometh} by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (KJV)

2) The best way to get the faith needed to receive is to hear God’s Word and the best way for you to hear it is to confess it yourself, “Speak out the word of promise.”

a) Now (2PET 1:3) Says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that {pertain} unto life and godliness.”

b) It’s not a matter of God doing something; He’s already done it.

(i) Now it’s a matter of us doing something.

(ii) We need to release the Power of God. (Romans 1:16)

3) We already said that faith releases the Power of God, but where is it that faith takes place? It’s in you heart.

a) If it’s in your heart then you are going to speak it. You’re going to speak the Word of God.

b) But there is more to confession then it just being an evidence of your faith. Confession itself plays a very big role in receiving the promises of God.

(i) Confession and faith go hand in hand. You can’t separate them and expect your faith to work.

B) MAR 11:23.

1) Lets read it again, but this time notice thesay, saith, and saith.” (read)

2) ISA 55:11 When you speak out the promise of God it will not return void, or empty as the NIV puts it.

a) But it will accomplish that which it was sent out to do.

C) Now someone always ends up thinking, “Well, what if God didn’t want us to have one of those things that we are confessing?”

1) 1st of all is it the Word of God that you’re confessing, if not you have no business confessing it.

2) And 2nd if it’s a promise of God and He doesn’t want you to have it, that would make Him a liar.

a) (Numbers 23:19) Says, “God is not a man, that he should lie.” KJV

(i) If God gave us His word on something than that is His will for us.

b) We need to be a little more like Abraham.

(i) In (ROM 4:20) It says, “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;”

3) We also need to realize that if God said it He will perform it.

a) Paul said in (1THES 5:24) “Faithful is He that called you, who will do it.” God is faithful to perform it.

b) In (JER 1:12) the Lord said, “I will hasten my word to perform it.”

4) Turn to HEB 10:23.

a) The word “Profession” in this V is the same Greek word for “Confession”.

b) So in other words this V says, “Hold fast to your confession of faith, for God is faithful that promised.”

IV) MAT 8:5-10, 13.

A) Jesus spoke the Word and the servant was healed.

1) But notice something else that Jesus said in V 10 (read)

2) Why did this man have such great faith?

a) He had revelation of the power and authority of the Word of God.

b) If you get this revelation for yourself you too will have great faith.

B) In (HEB 11:3) it says, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God.”

1) The worlds were framed by the Word of God.

2) There is power in the spoken Word of God.

a) Once you begin to get this revelation and you start confessing God’s Word for yourself you’ll begin to see God’s hand move in your life and in your situations.
