42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
These two verses go hand in hand. The belief of the pharisees was dependent upon a miracle by Jesus. Though He had performed many miracles, they wanted more; a final act to take Himself down from the cross. He had the ability to do so at any point, but He knew without this sacrifice, the world could never be saved. We see earlier in the ministry of Jesus He said that there would no sign be given other than the sign of Jonah. Even with this sign the pharisees would still not believe. They even paid off the guard to say the disciples stole His body while they slept.
45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Jesus cried out to the Father when the Father turned His back on Him. God could not look upon sin and when His Son took on the sins of the world, God separated Himself from Jesus. One day, many people will become separated from God, but this separation is of their own choosing by denying the very One who could save them. Jesus took on the separation so we could be joined with the Father.
King James Version Chapter 28
And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

You will bruise his heel, but he shall crush your head
The morning came after Jesus’ body lay in the darkness of that tomb for days. He was resurrected to life and your life can be too. If you’ve been walking in the darkness for so long and are waiting for the revival of your spirit, now is the time.
No bone shall be broken

17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
