Psalm 119:11 ESV
11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
Someone once said - “Here is the best thing “your word” hidden in the best place “in the heart” for the best purpose “that I might not sin against you”
“Your word”
It’s important to realize what we feed ourselves!
Are we eating the junk food that the world offers that has no nutritional value or are we feeding on the “real food”
Isaiah 55:2 ESV
2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.
Jeremiah 3:15 ESV
15 “ ‘And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.
2 Timothy 3:16 ESV
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
Psalm 119:127 ESV
127 Therefore I love your commandments above gold, above fine gold.
Psalm 119:127
2 Timothy 3:16
“Store up”
The pantry for when you need it.
What’s in your pantry now that you keep constantly?
Why do you feel like you need to keep a constant supply of it?
Psalm 119:97 ESV
97 Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.
Psalm 119:
Psalm 1:2–3 ESV
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
Psalm 1:
“In my heart”
How do you get it in there?
The food on the grocery store aisle doesn’t do any good if it isn’t in the pantry! It can’t feed you while it’s still in the store!
Don’t expect someone else to feed you!!
You are responsible for your own spiritual nutrition. Yes, it is good that we hear a message and that we fellowship together, but if that’s the only meal you eat all week you will starve spiritually.
“That I might not sin against you”
The ultimate goal - that we wouldn’t sin against God!
