Easter Children’s Message

Good Morning everyone and happy Easter! Today I’ve got a special message just for you! We are going to talk about the most amazing event ever…when Jesus rose from the dead! But first, have you ever seen one of these? hold up Jack in the Box.
This is a Jack-In-The-Box....or more of a puppy-in-the-box, but it’s all the same! Do you know what happens when I turn this crank on the side? I bet you do! When I do this, a little puppy is going to pop out. Crank it until it pops.
Haha, did that scare you? Were you surprised? It definitely surprised me a little and I was the one doing it! That reminds me of the Easter story. See, in the Easter story, like we talked about just a few days ago on Good Friday, Jesus died on the cross. And all of Jesus’ friends, family, and disciples were really sad about it. It makes sense that they were sad, because their friend and teacher was gone…or so they thought!
The Bible tells us in the book of Mark:
See,
When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.”

The women fled from the tomb, trembling and bewildered, and they said nothing to anyone because they were too frightened.
See, on Easter morning, the women were surprised to learn that Jesus was risen from the dead! They were surprised and shocked! But they shouldn’t have been surprised, because Jesus had told them many times that He would die and rise again from the dead. And we are still surprised sometimes today when we hear that. When someone says that Jesus died and rose from the dead for you and for me, to forgive us, and to give us life everlasting, we might say “can you believe that?”
But we should! We shouldn’t be surprised, we should be excited and happy! Because He is Risen! He is risen indeed, Hallelujah! See you next time boys and girls and happy Easter!a
