It’s Your Choice pt4

. last week we spoke abut the impotence of using the words that we speak each day to choose life and to not choose death, that according to scripture you have the power to choose between life or death for yourself and also for your descendants.

19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

Proverbs 18:21 NKJV

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

. We also spoke about the reality that the words that you choose to speak will determine the direction of your life.

. and if you are a person of Faith, then the words that you choose to speak will determine the effectiveness of you faith, and in turn your ability to serve God faithfully.

. This is not something that we can rely on anyone else for, each of us needs to take responsibility for the words that we choose to speak and for what we declare over ourselves and our circumstances. You cannot just hope that somebody else will do it for you.

. As a believer take hold of the Word of God which is truth and declare it over yourself!

. even if you are not a believer and somehow found yourself watching this, the words that you speak and declare over yourself are important your words have power!

. Now even though it is our responsibility each and everyone of us to make the choice of life over death. We have a God who has already shown us how to do this and even given us examples of what things we need to be declaring.

. This is what i want to focus on today, We need to know the Words that we should be speaking, and we need to know how to combat the negative thought and the negative words that we could speak with Truth!

. and a great example for us is found in

Matthew 4:1–11 NKJV

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ” Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

. Jesus answered with the truth that is found in the Word of God, your weapon is the Word.

. Every deception/trick that Jesus was faced with he answered with the Word.

. He didn't try to come up with an answer himself, he didn't try to defend himself or his position before Satan, he didn't even try to attack back.

. But what Jesus did and the example for us here is that when faced with a decision to speak Life or Death, Jesus choose to speak Life and where did he find the words that would lead bring life?

. The Word of God...... You don't have to be the best with words, you don’t have to try and convince yourself that you deserve life.

. I think sometimes that is the issue we don't actually believe that we deserve a blessed life, we don't think that we deserve to make the choice of Life when we think we are just the worst christian or even the worst person.

. That is why, what Jesus choose to use as a response to the enemy is vital for us to understand, Jesus choose to speak the words that are in the book that brings Life.

. Jesus knew the words of truth, Jesus knew what was written in the scriptures, so for every things that was put before him he knew what the answer was according to the Word of God.

. So again you don't need to be the most articulate, you just need to know what the Word of God says about you, you need to know and understand that Gods desire for you is that you would choose life, and that you would believe that you in fact deserve life because that's what the Word says about you!

. Speak and declare over yourself and your situation words of life, that are not words made up by you but are words that God himself has said about you.

. here are a few examples

Romans 8:37 NKJV

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

. You are more than a conqueror, meaning you are a conquer you do have victory, but you are also so much more than that, and we are victorious because of God who loves us.

Deuteronomy 28:6 NKJV

“Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.

. You are blessed everywhere you go, as long as you remain faithful to God there is no place that his blessing and favor cannot reach you!

Romans 8:28 NKJV

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

. No matter you circumstance, no matter the pressures of life, God makes all things work together foe our God all things!!

2 Thessalonians 3:16 NKJV

Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.

. We belong to the God of peace, who is able and willing to give you peace at all times, there is nothing that can upset the peace of God as long as you continue to choose to remain in it.

. These are only a few, there are so many life breathing words in scripture that God wants you and i to choose, to accept and to declare.

. but to be able to call on them you need to know that they are there, use the time you have to get into the Word.

. next week i want to talk about how you can use words of life/ your story of life to bring hope and life to those around you.

. You can declare peace over your life especially in times of trouble, because you belong to the God of peace, who is faithful and will make it so
