“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
…do not worry about tomorrow…for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

If there ever was a time when anxiety was an epidemic…a pandemic, that would be now. Anxiety has often been called the great disease of our age (Dis - Ease). It is not picky about who it infects: rich, poor, young, old, etc.
What does anxiety look like in our lives?
Unusual worry, fear, and even guilt (overthinking, obsessing, etc.)
In , -34, Jesus tackles this issue from several angles — He asks some questions to get us thinking. What it boils down to is one question. Why worry? (What does that accomplish?). In this passage He asks questions and, thank the Lord, He gives answers because we need it. Each one of us is all too familiar with the problems caused by anxiety - it distracts our thinking, disturbs and inhibits our worship, throws our lives into a disorganized mess, and stomps all over our joy and peace in the Lord.
We may be tempted to think that Jesus doesn’t understand the things we worry about. We would be wrong in that thinking. When he was walking the earth, His family and life was that of the labourinig class of people. He was accustomed to poverty from His childhood. It wasn’t an uncommon thing. So when He asks “Why worry?” - He knows what He is talking about
DOES WORRY PROVIDE FOR YOU PHYSICALLY?
DOES WORRY PROVIDE FOR YOU PHYSICALLY?
How did Jesus address that worry in ?
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?

Matthew 6:
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
How does God provide food, clothing, and other essentials for us today?
He gives us ability, strength, and intelligence to work so that we can purchase those things
He also has a system of life that His people help provide for those that are in need and unable to care for themselves
He provides systems in our world that can also help
Why is tithing and giving so important?
Anxiety can never feed or clothe anyone…nor can it add a single minute to our lives
God will meet our needs if we will simply trust, obey, and be good stewards of His gifts
DOES WORRY BRING PEACE TO OUR LIVES?
DOES WORRY BRING PEACE TO OUR LIVES?
Above all things do not touch Christianity unless you are willing to seek the kingdom first. I promise you a miserable existence if you seek it second — Henry Drummond
There is no way to no peace if we allow anxiety to to block our path to putting God first in our lives.
Worry is a sign that God is not first
What did Jesus promise His followers in this passage?
If you will put God first, your need for food and clothing will be met
If you will put God first, your worries about sicknesses, diseases, and financial disaster will fade away in light of His great love and promises
