Feeling withered?
Feeling withered?
Mark 3:1-
And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand. So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. And He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.” Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent. And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.
Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.
But Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea. And a great multitude from Galilee followed Him, and from Judea and Jerusalem and Idumea and beyond the Jordan; and those from Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they heard how many things He was doing, came to Him. So He told His disciples that a small boat should be kept ready for Him because of the multitude, lest they should crush Him. For He healed many, so that as many as had afflictions pressed about Him to touch Him. And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried out, saying, “You are the Son of God.”

Mark 3:
Watched, observed , watch closely
The wicked watches the righteous,
And seeks to slay him.
accuse Him - bring charges against Him
Whether He would
The people who were ready to accuse Jesus of wrongdoing knew, they believed, that He was able to heal.
It wasn’t a question of could He, it was a question of would He. Remember that
Mark 3:3
And He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.”
Step forward, arise in the midst - how do you think this guy felt being called to stand up?
Mark 3:4
Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent.
They kept silent. They knew if an animal fell into a pit they would rescue it
They kept silent - they didn’t want to get involved and choose sides
The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it?
Then He answered them, saying, “Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?” And they could not answer Him regarding these things.
Luke 14:
The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it?
Luke 13:15

anger - wrath, fury, indignation did Jesus say “let the record show I am angry”?
He was prepared to help someone and they were more concerned about rules. They lacked compassion, they did not care for their fellow man and did not care for those in need.
Stretch out your hand - extend it. Jesus never touched this man. Jesus spoke to Him, told Him what to do. the man believed and did it, and was healed.
Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.
The Pharisees response was to plot to kill Jesus. They saw the miraculous and rebelled against it. They had such anger and hatred in their heart that they plotted to destroy Jesus. They went out immediately. They wasted no time to move towards their evil desires
destroy - to put out of the way entirely, abolish, put an end to ruin

BUT
Jesus is different from our world. His ways are so much better.
mARK 3:7-8

Mark 3:9-
I love this passage in Mark. Jesus is in a room, and the people who hate Him look at Him, they also see that there is someone with a need. Even in their hatred and sin, they realize a basic truth
Jesus + need = Miraculous
What were other people in this room thinking? The passage doesn’t tell us.
After all this happens what do we see?
The end result is God is glorified. They cried “You are the Son Of GOD”
For me the question I have to ask myself when reading this is how do I see Jesus
How do I answer these questions? What is our first response in my heart?
Does Jesus see ME?
Does He know MY needs?
Does He see MY pain?
Can he help ME?
Is he going to help ME?
How will He help ME?
WHY am I going through this?
The end result is God is glorified. They cried “You are the Son Of GOD”
Jesus, our Savior sees us. He knows us. He cares for us.
You may be feeling like the man with the withered hand.
We don’t know how old he was or how long he dealt with this, but Jesus saw him.
What are you going through?
He is the same yesterday today and forever. He sees you, he cares and He will work in your life to bring you closer to Him.
We don’t always know what that looks like, but we can be confident of His loyal love and devotion to us.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
