We’re going to continue on the subject of healing for our bodies. We know that the Word of God says that by Jesus stripes we are healed, but when we do get sick we wonder why we are not healed. We feel that we’re doing all the right things, but still we’re sick. Healing is not something that is hard to come by, It’s not a set of formulas that we have to do in exact order to get healed.

     I. 1 of the main things that is holding us up from our healing is faith. Simply trusting God for our healing and knowing that it belongs to us.

              A. Sure we know it in our heads, but do we truly have it in our heart.

                        1. When we see or feel the 1st symptoms of sickness in our bodies, the 1st thing that we think is “Oh, I’m sick” or “I have a cold.”

                                  a. And usually the 1st thing out of our mouths is, “I’m sick.”

                        2. We need to turn our thinking around.

                                  a. Sure we’re going to know when our body hurts, But the Word of God should be more of a reality to us than what our bodies say.

              B. We have to get it into our head that what Jesus did on Earth was His will and that it was also the will of the Father.

                        1. In (HEB 10:7) it says in reference to Jesus, “Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me), to do thy will, O God.”

                                  a. In (JOH 6:38) Jesus said, “For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.”

                        2. Everything that Jesus did on Earth was the perfect will of the Father.

              C. F. F. Bosworth in his book “CHRIST The HEALER” says: The Episcopalian commission of scholars were appointed to study the subject of spiritual healing for the body, after 3 years of study and research in both the bible and in history, reported back to the church: “The healing of Jesus was done as a revelation of God's will for man.” “NO LONGER CAN The CHURCH PRAY FOR The SICK with THAT FAITH‑DESTROYING PHRASE,” “IF IT BE THY WILL.”

                        2. Some times people still use that phrase. “If it be they will.”

                                  a. If God only heals those who he chooses to heal then how could we pray the prayer of faith?

                        3. JAMES 5:14-15

                                  a. 1st of all it says, “IS THERE ANY SICK AMONG YOU?” There might not be any sick. [HEALED]

                                  b. Then it says, “LET HIM CALL FOR The ELDERS OF T CHURCH

                                           i. If healing isn't for all why does it sayLet him call for the elders of the Church? ”

ii. If healing was only for those that God picks to be healed, then nothing is going to change things, no matter what you do. It all comes down to His sovereign will.

iii. If He wants you sick then you’re going to be sick.

iv. If He wants you healed then you’re going to be healed, no matter what you do.

                        4. Then he goes on to says in (JAMES 5:15), “The PRAYER OF FAITH SHALL SAVE The SICK”.

                                  a. The NIV says that the prayer of faith will make the sick person well.

                                  b. It’s not a matter of God’s sovereign will for you to be healed, but it’s a matter of FAITH.

II. The phrase “IF IT BE THY WILL,” is found only 1 time in the Word.

              A. So lets look at it. MARK 1

                        1. This man was a poor outcast leper who did not know the will of Jesus.

                                  a. The 1st thing that Jesus did was to correct his uncertainty.

                        2. MARK 1:40‑41 JESUS ANSWERED HIM, “I WILL.” I am willing for you to be healed. It is my will for you to be healed.

                                  a. The NIV translation quotes Jesus as saying, “I am Willing.”

                        3. We need to let that “I will” of Jesus settle it in your mind and in your heart forever. It's God's will for you to be healed.

                                  a. If He wills for 1 to be healed, then He wills for all to be healed. He's not a respecter of persons.

              B. The words that Jesus used here, when he said “I will”, are the strongest words you can use, to say that you would do something.

                        1. The NIV says, “I am willing,” “Be clean!”

                        2. In the Wuest translation the leper said, “If you are willing, you have power to cleanse me.” Jesus said, “I desire it. Be clean at once.”

                                  a. This man knew that Jesus had the power to heal.

                                           i. He said, “Thou canst make me clean.”

                                  b. The word “canst” in the KJV is the Greek worddunamaiwhich is the root word for “dunamis”, God's miracle working power.

                                  c. So the man didn't have any problem with the ability of Jesus, but he didn't know that it was also the Lord's will to healing him.

                                           i. Jesus said, “I am willing” or as the Wuest translation puts it, “I desire for you to be healed”.

                        3. When the leper asked Jesus to heal him, some other translations say that Jesus answered, “of course I want to”, “I do want to”, “Indeed I will”.

                                  a. I don't think that Jesus could make it any clearer that it is His will to heal.

              C. Turn with me to NUM 21.

                        1. In this passage we have the story of the children of Israel sick from snake bites.

                        2. NUM 21:7–9

                                  a. Actually this Brazen Serpent is a type of Christ.

                                  b. It is a shadow of what Jesus provided for us by being put on the cross and being made sin for us.

                        3. As many as looked to the Brazen Serpent lived.

                                  a. They had to put their faith in what God had said, other wise they wouldn’t look on the Brazen Serpent.

                                  a. Even so now, as many as look to Christ as their healer and put their faith in Him are healed.

                                  a. When we do are part, God is always faithful to do his part.

                                  b. (HEB 10:23) Says, “Let us hold fast the profession of {our} faith without wavering; (for he {is} faithful that promised;).”

              D. The benefits of Calvary are for you. If God healed all then, He still heals all; that is, all that come to Him for healing.

                        1. (HEB 13:8) Says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” (KJV)

                        2. MATT 12:15

                                  a. They came to Him with simple faith.

                        3. We always hear about the woman, with the issue of blood, who touched the hem of Jesus garment. She wasn't the only one who did the same thing.

                                  a. MATT 14:36

                                  b. This was just simple faith, coming to Jesus and believing you’re healed.

                        4. (LUK 6:19) SAYS, “And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed {them} all.”

III. MATT 8:16-17 Jesus is still healing the sick, to fulfill the prophet’s words: “Himself took our infirmities (WEAKNESSES), and bare {our} sicknesses (DISEASES)”.

              A. You are included in the “our” of (MATT 8:17), and God is bound by his covenant to continue to heal all who are sick, in order to fulfill his word spoken by Isaiah.

                        1. PSA 89:34

              a. (LUK 4:40) Says, “Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.”

                        2. Healing was for all in those days and Jesus the healer never changes.

              B. Look with me over to ACTS 8:5-8

                        1. Jesus proved to be exactly the same when Philip preached Christ.

              C. In (ACTS 3) Peter ministered to a crippled man and he was healed.

                        1. Jesus proved to be exactly the same for Peter.

IV. Whenever Jesus was preached as the sacrifice for our sins and sicknesses, healing was a result for the sick, as well as salvation for the lost.

              A. ACTS 14:8-10

                        1. Paul must have preached the Gospel of healing, because the lame man received faith to be healed while listening to Paul's message.

                        2. Whenever healing is preached, and people give heed to the Word preached, faith is always imparted and the people are always healed.

                                  a. True faith in the Word of God never fails.

                                  b. But faith cannot be exercised when someone is undecided as to whether God heals or not.

                                  c. (James 1:6-7) says, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. (7) For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.”

              B. Let it be forever settled and established that it is God's will for you to be healed.

                        1. God said, “I am the Lord that healeth thee”.

                        2. If God said it, and God cannot lie, He meant it. and If He meant it, healing is mine.
