3 Things God Can Be For You RIGHT NOW

Hello, New Life!
I’m coming to you from the platform in our auditorium and I trust you are doing well and a pray you are all in good health over the particularly odd time we are finding ourselves in.
I want to take just a few minutes and speak something that I pray will take root in your spirit...
There is a Psalm that David wrote that is very interesting and seems so appropriate right now. So let me read it to you in Psalms chapter 3...
Now, it’s first important to note that above the scriptures in this chapter, it says: “A Psalm of David When He Fled from Absalom His Son.”
Psalm 3:1–2 NKJV
1 Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. 2 Many are they who say of me, There is no help for him in God.” Selah
Now when David says “Many are they...” he is referring to more than just Absalom. Some of David’s own men were betraying him and siding with Absalom in his bid for the throne.
And now David is looking around him, and honestly… he doesn’t know who he can trust! It’s a moment of deep worry and distress for him.
Now, you and I, we are looking around and thinking, “Where can I trust to shop for groceries right now? Is there anywhere I can go and feel safe? Can I trust that my own family won’t pass this virus to me if I come near?”
And if we dwell too long on the news and what is taking place, and what could happen, we can quickly find ourselves in a place of worry and distress like David.
He said, “how they have increased who trouble me!”
“Many are they who say of me, ‘There is no help for him in God.’”
But here’s what is so powerful in this set of scriptures...
After those first two verses that show the trouble he had found himself in, all of a sudden the whole chapter changes tone completely:
Psalm 3:3 NKJV
3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
Oh my! I hope that scripture is being felt wherever you are at today because I believe God is trying to lift us up.
The whole mood shifted!
And if you go and look at what the heading of my bible says at the top of that chapter, it reads like this: “The Lord Helps His Troubled People”.
It does not say, “The Lord Leaves His People Helpless”.
It does not say, “The Lord Left Them In A Predicament To Fight For Themselves”.
But what I do read it saying is that the Lord helps his people when they are in trouble!
And in this scripture, there are three things that David says the Lord is for Him. And I believe God wants to be those three things for you right now as well...
Psalm 3:3 NKJV
3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
When no one would help David, God was his shield.
You might feel today as though you are alone in lockdown and unsure of what may come your way in this chaos.
That’s okay - you can let God be your shield!
When David had nothing to treasure, God was his glory.
You may feel that you are missing out on much of what you have valued in life, or are unable to find your joy at all.
It’ll be alright - you can let God be your glory!
And when no one would encourage David, God Himself would encourage him and lift up his head.
I want to tell you right now that if you’ve felt somewhat low over this past month and you need someone to pick you up, I happen to know the one who is the Lifter Up of My Head! He wants to lift you us today!
I believe God is trying to speak something to us in all of this. I would ask you: Are your ears open to what the Spirit is saying?
HEAR ME: God has not made a mistake in where the world is at right now - He doesn’t make mistakes.
And I believe he is preparing us and strengthening His people. And one thing He is saying is: “I need you to make me your Shield, your Glory, and the One Who Lifts Your Head.”
If you will pray and loose the control that we are all gripping onto, God can be all three of those things... for you... today.
God bless you, I love you, and I look forward to the time we’ll be seeing you and worshipping with you in this room once again!
