1 Corinthians 1:10–17 ESV

I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. For it has been reported to me by Chloe’s people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers. What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, so that no one may say that you were baptized in my name. (I did baptize also the household of Stephanas. Beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.) For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

Divisive individuals

Often the leaders are much more united.

Not groups the problem,

Talkin trash, gossip, jealousy etc..

Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? It seems some of the division may have been about who they were baptized by.

Baptisms are step two and they can be done by someone else it does not have to be the pastor or the one who lead you to Christ.

If you like someone else’s preaching, ok thats fine but I am here to preach the gospel.

Baptism is not about who baptized you physically but about who baptizes you spiritually which is Jesus by the Holy Spirit.

Paul says his primary calling and goal is to preach the gospel.

Everything else is secondary

Devision most often come from the sin of Pride

If you dont believe God then you dont pursue mission and unity.

Celebrate Unity in our Church.

Celebrate our doctrinal difference yet together

Not thinking about unity means not thinking about mission.

Me, my relationship, supersedes us and our, mission us not even me, you, or us, it is about them.

Consumers dont care about unity, they care about preference.
