It’s Your Choice pt5

. Thank you so much for joining us again tonight for our midweek live stream........ i hope that you are all keeping safe at home, we at Ignite life want to encourage you to continue to follow all of the government restrictions to the best of your ability, if we stand together we will see an end to this!

. For the last couple of weeks we have been talking sharing about using the words that we speak to make the choice each day to take life and not death, that the words that we speak and the things that we choose to declare will determine the effectiveness of our lives.

. and also will determine the effectiveness of our faith

Deuteronomy 30:19 NKJV

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

. and last week we looked at Matthew 4 “Jesus in the wilderness” and how this story shows us how Jesus dealt with the choice between life and death, when he was confronted directly by the enemy.

. For every question that the enemy threw at Jesus his response was the Word of God, Jesus response was the Word of truth. because he knew that the only answer that he needed was the ones found in scripture.

. Jesus did not try to out smart satan he didn't try to prove satan wrong he didn't get his back against the wall and try to defended himself he spoke the truth that is found in the scriptures, the same truth that you and i have today in our bibles on our phones in so many places we have the Word of God available to us.

. but do we know how to stand on it use it to declare victory and truth over our lives?

. I want to encourage you again to quote and declare scriptures over yourself everyday the ones that speak to you, the ones that God has spoken to you through in the past.

. Use the weapon of the Word that you have been given to choose Life!

. So This week i want to talk with you all about how God wants to us the Words that you speak, to bring life and hope tho those around you and tho those who he will lead you to in your lifetime.

. Your words have the power to release life into those who need it, but you will only be able to make the most of these opportunity's if you know how to speak life over yourself first!

. and also the fact that God wants you to use his words, i.e. the word of God to help others come to truly and genuinely know him.

. i want to read with you scriptures from two chapters in Acts, chapters 10 and 11, now these two chapters tell the same story, one as it was happening to Peter and the second as Peter is recounting the testimony before the brothers in Jerusalem.

.In Chapter 10 Peter has receives a vision 3 times from God and then is meet where he is staying by 3 men who want to take him to their master, this is what they say to Peter!

Acts 10:21–22 NKJV

Then Peter went down to the men who had been sent to him from Cornelius, and said, “Yes, I am he whom you seek. For what reason have you come?” And they said, “Cornelius the centurion, a just man, one who fears God and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was divinely instructed by a holy angel to summon you to his house, and to hear words from you.”

. Why did God send Peter to this house?

because he had given Peter the words to speak to them that would lead these people to have an encounter with the Holy Spirit that would change their lives and their understanding of who God is and the Power that he has.

. Watch what happens, Peter just begins to share truth with these people about Jesus and then it goes on to say

Acts 10:44–45 NKJV

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.

. The Holy Spirit fell on those who heard the word! the Holy Spirit fell on those who heard the words of Life and truth that Peter spoke.

. The spoken word prepared the listeners to encounter and receive the Holy Spirit!

. Lets read the way that Peter talks about this in chapter 11

Acts 11:11–15 NKJV

At that very moment, three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea. Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house. And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him, ‘Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter, who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.’ And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.

. “who will tell you the words by which you and your household will be saved”

. notice again the purpose for which Peter was sent and even he recognized this in his retelling of the story, it was his words and his words alone that would determine the outcome of this meeting, because the words that he would speak would not actually be his own.

. But the Word of God/of Truth would be spoken by him and again it reads that as he spoke the Holy Spirit fell on them.

. Any encounter with Holy Spirit happen because Peter spoke words of Life, and where there is Life God is because God is the giver and the sustain-er of life!

. Your words have the power (as did Peters) to usher in the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit.

. Peter was called to speak the Word in the same way that you and i are called to speak the Word.

. What are you speaking? Life or death?

. When you are speaking to someone are you speaking words that will usher in the presence of the Holy Spirit?

. and remember in all of this that you don not have to be the one who comes up with the words or try to figure out what to say.

. It is the word of God alone that will bring his presence.

. Let everything that comes from your mouth be life giving words that allow you and those around you to encounter the the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
