Thursday is Thanksgiving and *I can’t think of a better time* in the year to say we need *to have attitude of Thanksgiving*.
In *(Psalms 105:1)* it says, *“O give thanks unto the Lord.”*
And in the *verse* *we* just *read* *(Psalms 103:1-2*) it *says*, *“Bless the Lord, O my soul.”*
The word *“BLESS”* means *“TO PRAISE, SALUTE, or TO THANK.”*
*I) **With* *Thursday being Thanksgiving* it’s a *great reminder* to us *to give thanks to God* *for all that he’s blessed us with*, like our *home*, our *children*, our *families*, and even for the *things we have*.
*A) *But *let’s not forget* the *most important* thing to be thankful for and that is *our salvation*.
*1) *We *shouldn’t wait for Thanksgiving* to come around for us *to be thankful*.
*We should be* *offering up thanks* *to God* *daily*.
*a) *In *(Psalms 37:4)* it *says*, *“Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.”*
*b) *In *(Psalm 79:13)* it *says*, *“So thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks forever: we will show forth thy praise to all generations.”*
*2) **Having an* *attitude of Thanksgiving* *or* *AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE* *should be lifestyle*.
*We’re called* by God *to be* a *thankful people*.
*a) *There are over *130 references* in the Word of God that were *exhorted to be thankful*.

*3) **Thanksgiving and gratitude* *will change DEPRESSION TO JOY*, a *FROWN TO A SMILE*, and *PESSIMISM TO OPTIMISM*.
*B) *Turn to *1st Peter 2:9*.
*1) **This verse tells us* that *we are* *A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD*.
*We are priests unto God*.
*2) *In *(1st Chronicles 23:30)* it *says* that the *priests were to stand every morning* *and* *evening* *to thank and praise the Lord*.
*a) **Now* *that’s our job*.
*We should be thanking God daily*.
*3) *Turn with me to *Romans 1:8*.
*a) **Notice* *he says*, *“1st* *I thank my God.”* He’s *placing* a *great deal of importance* *on Thanksgiving*.
*4) *In (*1st Corinthians 1:4*) it says*, “I thank my God always on your behalf.”*
*a) *In (*1st Thessalonians 2:13*) it says, *“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing.”*
*II) *Back in *(Psalms 103)* we *find* a *number of things to be thankful for*.
*A) *In (*verse 3*) it *says*, *“Who forgiveth all thine iniquities.”*
*1) *That’s a pretty *good reason to be thankful* for.
*2) *Turn with me to *Psalms 103:10-1**2*.
*a) **God* has *removed* *our sins* so far from us that he *doesn’t* *even remember* them.
*b) *In (*Hebrews 10:17*) it says*, “Their sins and iniquities I will remember no more.”*
*c) *This is *something* that we have *to be thankful for*, the *forgiveness of sins*.
*B) **Back in* (*Psalms 103:3*) it says, *“Who healeth all thy diseases.”*
*1) **Probably* *not to far off* in the future *I’ll teach* a short series *on* the subject of *healing*, but *for now* I just want to *give you a few vs*. on the subject.
*a) *(*Exodus 15:26*) says*, “For I am the Lord that healeth thee.”*
*b) *(*Isaiah 53:5*) says, *“But he {was} wounded for our transgressions, {he was} bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace {was} upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”*
*c) *And in (*Matthew 8:17*) it says*, “That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare {our} sicknesses.”*
*d) *(*1st Peter 2:24*) Says*, “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”*
*(i) **Healing is ours*, it’s been provided for us, and it’s *something to be thankful for*.
*C) *(*PSA 103:4*) says, *“Who redeemeth thy life from destruction.”*
*1) **God delivers* us *from destruction **and **evil*.
*III) **Psalms 91:1-16*.
*A) **In* this *whole chapter,* we see *a lot to be thankful for*.
*1) *In (*verse 3*) it’s says, *“He shall DELIVER thee.”*
*2) *In (*verse 10*) it says, *“There shall no evil befall thee.”*
*3) *In (*PSA 23:4*) it says, *“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou {art} with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”*
*a) **We have a lot to be thankful for*.
*B) **Back in* (*PSA 103:5*) it says, *“Who satisfieth thy mouth with good {things; so that} thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”*
*1) *There’s *2 good things **in that V*.
*a) **First* of all, *it **says* that *God will give us good things*.
*2) **JAMES 1:17*.
*God only gives* us *good and perfect **gifts*.
*a) **If it’s not a good gift* *or* a *perfect gift*, it’s *not from God*.
*b) *(*MAT 7:11*) Says, “*If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children*, *how much more shall your Father* *which is in heaven* *give good things to them that ask him*?”
*3) **We have a lot to be thankful for*, *more then what’s written here in PSA 103*.
*a) *You could probable *go on with a long list*, you could be *thankful for things **like*; *Your **house, your **family, your **children, the **Church, your **job, your **health, that you have **food* on your table, *thankful for Jesus*, and the *list goes on*.
*b) **LUKE 10:20* This is *one of the **most important*, *thankful that our names are written in heaven*.
*4) *(*EPH 5:20*) “*Giving thanks always* *for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”*
*C) *Turn with me to this last scripture *1st Corinthians 15:57*.
*1) *(*1st Thessalonians 5:18*) says, “*In every thing give thanks: **for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you*.”
*IV) **If someone has a negative attitude* *or* a *bad attitude,* *often it’s difficult to get out of that.*
*A) **Well*, *how do we change our attitude* *to an attitude of gratitude*?
*1) *The *1st* thing you have to *realize is that with God nothing is impossible*.
(Luke 1:37).
*God can turn it around*.
*B) *But your *1st step* is to *get your eyes off the problems* *and* *on the Lord*.
*1) *(*Hebrews 12:2*) says*, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.”*
*2) *Turn to *Acts 16:16-25*.
*a) **Paul and Silas were in there darkest hour*, they *could have been negative*.
*b) **But* they *still looked to Jesus* *even in* the midst of there *darkest hour*.
*They continued to praise God* *and* *have an attitude of gratitude*.
*c) **Look at what happened* in *verse 26*.
*(i) **Thanksgiving is a type of praise* *and* *praise brings in the presence of God*.
*(ii) *(*Psalms 22:3*) says, *“Thou inhabitest the praises of Israel.”*
*(iii) **And* *where his presence is* *His anointing is there also*.
*And it’s the anointing that breaks every yoke of bondage*.
*(iv) **Paul and Silas* *were in some heavy bondage*, *but do to their praise God delivered them*.
*C) *I *already read* to you (*1st Thessalonians 5:18*) which says, “*In every thing give thanks: **for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”*
*1) **The Lord is trying to show us* *through His Word how to have attitude of gratitude*.
*a) **1st* *get our attention on God* *and on* the Lord *Jesus* Christ.
*b) **2nd* *sing praises to God* *whether you feel like it or not*.
(Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness) (Isaiah 61:3)
*c) **3rd*, *even in the midst of all the things* *that we’re going through* *give thanks to God*.
*(i) **You have to make a choice to get out of negativism*.
*Nobody wants to be around someone with a bad attitude* *or* that is *always negative*.
*d) **No.
4*, *know that there is a way out* *of every situation and problem*.
*(i) **1st Corinthians 10:13*.

*(ii) **Realize that God has provided a way out* *and* *there is the answer for your problem*.
*But the only way to find it is to have a thankful heart*.
