We are living in crazy times. This afternoon I just want to give you a few quick devotional thoughts on how we should be living in light of everything going on around us.

We live by faith, not by fear.

John 14:1 ESV
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
John 14:27 ESV
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
1 Timothy 1:7 ESV
desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions.
2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV
for we walk by faith, not by sight.

We are sacrificial, not selfish.

Philippians 2:3–4 ESV
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Acts 2:44–45 ESV
And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.
Acts 2:46 ESV
And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,
Acts 2:47 ESV
praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

We shine the light, we do not hide it.

Matthew 5:14–16 ESV
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
2 Corinthians 4:7–9 ESV
But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
What is your response?
Are you dealing with any fears or anxieties right now? What are they?
Would you describe your faith as more of a weekly faith or a daily faith? What are some ways you could live out your faith more during the week?
How can you put others first and bring hope to those who need it this week?
