We’ve been teaching on the Anointing of God and the title that I put on this series is “Flowing in the Anointing.” But if I was to put a title on this specific message it would be “You Are Anointed.”

I) Turn with me to EPH 3:20

A) Let me ask you this. What is the Anointing?

1) We talk about it, we here messages on it, We may even sing about it, but few believers have a good understanding of it.

(a) Many times people think that those who are anointed are going to act like Kathryn Khulman or that they have to fall into a trance like state to flow in the anointing.

(i) The idea is that the anointing must create a reaction of awe and amazement.

(b) Sometimes it’s portrayed as something so distant, so deep, and unattainable that only the great ministers or the prophets of God can operate in it.

2) Nothing can be further from the truth.

(a) The anointing is for you. It is designed to equip you for every day life and it is available to every born again believer.

(b) All you need is some understanding in order to begin living in it.

B) So let’s set aside some of our preconceived ideas about the anointing and see what the Word of God says.

1) Turn to JOHN 14:26. In this passage Jesus is talking to His disciples just days before His crucifixion.

(a) 1st of all Jesus tells us here that the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, is a “HE.”

(i) The HS is not an “it” or a “thing.”

(ii) He is a person, the 3rd person of the Trinity.

(b) Jesus said that when He comes, He will teach us all things and as Jesus said in (JOHN 16:13) the HS will lead us into all truth.

2) How is He going to do that? Through an “UNCTION” or “AN ANOINTING.”

3) Turn to 1JOHN 2:20

(a) The word “UNCTION” is the same Greek word for “ANOINTING”.

(b) And so he says that you have an ANOINTING from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

4) Go down to 1JOHN 2:27a-b

(a) Let’s stop there for a moment.

(i) Some have taken that V “ye need not that any man teach you” to mean that they don’t need to go to church because the Holy Ghost will teach them.

(b) That’s not what John is saying.

(i) The Word of God teaches that we do need to come to church.

(ii) (HEB 10:25) Says that we are not to forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.

(iii) In (ACTS 11:26) it says, “And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people.”

(c) Look at JOHN 2:26

(i) The NIV says, “I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray.”

(a) There were those that were trying to lead them astray by their false teaching.

(b) So what John is saying is that you have the HS and He will show you and teach you if what they say is the truth or not.

5) Alright let’s go back to 1JOHN 2:20 and 27

(a) Jesus said that the COMFORTER will TEACH YOU and SHOW YOU THE TRUTH and JOHN said that the ANOINTING will TEACH YOU and SHOW YOU THE TRUTH.

(b) Are the ANOINTING and the Holy Ghost the same thing? Or are they different?

(i) Let me put it this way. The HS is the PERSON. The ANOINTING is part of His CHARACTER.

II) The word “ANOINTING” comes from the Greek work “Chrisma” and it means “A SMEARING, RUBBING, or ENDOWMENT.” It can also mean “TO SMEAR ON, OVERSHADOW, or TO PAINT OVER.”

A) When the anointing comes on you it is painting on, a smearing on and an endowment of the character of the Holy Ghost directly into your natural being.

1) It’s the person of the Holy Ghost overshadowing you, clothing you with His virtues and power rather than your own.

(a) According to the Dictionary the word “POWER,” means “Ability to act or produce an effect.”

(i) The Anointing is God’s power to cause an effect in your life, to bring about positive results.

(ii) If you’re a singer, when the anointing comes upon you, you won’t just sing anymore. You’ll sing with the presence of the Holy Ghost on you, which will bring results.

2) The anointing of God guarantees victory. It’s the source of power for every Christian, and we should be walking in it in our daily lives.

3) 2 Christians can have the same faith, know the same scriptures and have the same goals, yet 1 succeeds and the other will fail. WHY?

(a) Only 1 has the power flowing in his live.

(b) It’s the power of the anointing that will get the job done.

III) The Bible is full of examples where the Anointing of the Holy Ghost caused impossibilities to be turned into realities.

A) Turn with to (LUKE 1) (The angel Gabriel delivered some amazing news to Mary. Look at what he said in LUKE 1:31-34.

1) This looked impossible to Mary.

2) But look at what Gabriel told her. LUKE 1:35

(a) “The power of the Highest shall overshadow thee.” That is the anointing.

B) You can look at the disciples and see the anointing coming on them.

1) Right after Jesus death they locked themselves in a room, but when the power of the Holy Ghost came on them they went out in the streets to preach the Gospel.

(a) Peter stood up and gave them a salvation message and 3000 were saved that day.

(i) That was an impossible situation turned into a reality.

(b) When the anointing comes on you there is going to be a change about you, but what’s more important that anointing will bring about results.

2) What “Impossibilities” are you facing today?

(a) It might be in your home, your business, your finances, your children or your marriage.

(b) You can’t make it happen in your own power.

(i) You have to set side your own knowledge, your own plans, and your own good ideas and HUMBLE yourself under the might hand of God.

(c) (1 Peter 5:5) Says, “God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”

(i) The word “GRACE” means “God’s power, His might, His ability, and His ANOINTING.”

(ii) The Word tells us that God will give His Anointing to the humble.

(d) The very next V (1PET 5:6) from the NIV says, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” NIV

(i) Some of you need to be lifted up and out of your situation today and all of us need to have victory in our lives.

(ii) That power and that anointing will come into our lives as we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God.

(e) What does it mean to humble ourselves?

(i) We have to listen to the voice of the HS, find out His plan for our situation and do it. His ways not my ways.

(ii) (Word from God, My God shall supply all my needs, but you don’t know how that’s going to happen.) Don’t do it the way you think, but do it God’s way. MARY

(iii) Humble yourself before God listen to His voice and be obedient to it, and He will anoint you and you will have victory.
